I played in creative, I build a huge town in survival hard, and now I am building another huge town in hardcore...
I'm bored with the lack of features that could make the game pretty much "eternal" fun. So instead of just whinning, I will suggest
1. Mobs (mostly survival mode only):
Harder mobs to make us actually "fear the dark". Not even in hardcore I'm too afraid of walking at night. Suggestions: bigger version of current mobs, even passive, for instance a big ocelot named "jaguar" or "puma"; a big wolf named "werewolf"; a big chicken named "hellchicken", whatever
a. Rare extra strong "boss" mobs that actually make you run if not ready
b. Rare ocasions where ghasts or pigman can cross over portals (ok, just spawn them in overworld) on hard/hardcore. Now you will have a good reason to enclose/protect portals
c. New special mobs like "ghosts" that can pass thru solid blocks except rare ocasions (example: obsidian, iron, lapis lazuli), spawn in lower light levels than normal mobs
d. A flying agressive mob (bat?) you either run from it or snipe with arrows
e. A swiming agressive mob that appears on oceans (3+ water layers), so you think twice before swimming or venturing in boats at night (I usually run for water if I'm being overrun by skellys ...)
f. Some venous/poisonous mobs, or even plants (some tall grass that is venous if you move over it), so you actually have a reason to carry milk when you go out
g. Horses ... and yes, tamable/ridable. I don't want to ride only pigs
h. Snow golems should deal some small damage, including against creepers (alas the only friendly mob that attack creepers ... suicidal ya!)
2. Villagers (survival/creative modes):
The house/villager AI needs tweaking, and also having them do some simple tasks could help.
a. People have to make door farms to get a small town going, and then all of the sudden they need to kill villagers for overpopulation, wha? A simpler 1/1 villager/door would probably prevent problems and would be much simpler to manage
b. Some villagers could simulate tasks, like going to wheat fields and getting wheat/planting seeds; blacksmiths turning iron ingots to iron tools (you would leave ingots in his chest, after a while he replaces with tools - useless I know, it's just RP); guards that actually attack hostiles (why all villagers run and die?); etc; shepards that "attract" sheeps around them during the day; etc...
c. Fix how villagers all rush to the same house sometimes instead of mixing in different houses during rain/night
d. All villages should have at least one iron gollen, period. Small villages as of now are fated to die if you don't spend a lot of time in defenses/torches ... even then you might finish the work and notice it's already a ghost town
e. if protected (some sort of "thankful mode"), villagers could give stuff to you as a gift. Small but usefull things like wooden tools or ores
f. quest-like system, something simple, like "bring X items and receive something rare" given once in a while by a special villager (example: bring me 10 lapis lazuli, I will pay you a diamond)
3. Food/RP (creative/survival)
a. more farm food types. Suggestions: rice, corn (different biomes?), also make melons less rare, or even appear naturaly at the overworld
b. make us know how much stamina we have, instead of just shaking the food bar
c. some food types would increase some health, others some stamina, instead of hunger - not NECESSARY but a cool extra
4. Structures (optional when generating world?)
a. Castle ruins (stronghold-like structures, except on the overworld, inhabited by agressive mobs, and perhaps a hidden treasure). Castle bricks (same as stronghold) would also have a chance to spawn silverfish
b. Ghost villagers (run-down, partially destroyed villagers, with agressive mobs)
c. Ruins (think those we see in oblivion, skyrim) ... alas just random stone structures
5. Blocks (all modes)
a. stairs, slabs etc according to wood type (I think it's already planned)
b. Wooden panes - PLEASE - we have glass panes, wood panes would make much better inner walls
c. Give some reason to lapiz lazuli, like better blast resistance on the block
d. Reduce the time to mine obsidian
All of those ideas are just great, but don't forget about fact, that in Minecraft YOU should create your world, not the MC's creators.
Sure, but if you note, most of the changes (except the "structures" item 4) are just an increase in mobs, blocks and better villager AI, which I cannot create I do create towns and stuff like that and I love to make it so villagers occupy them, but ... they are so stupid lol. And as I mentioned, even hardcore is not that hardcore.
BTW yes, most of this would be to survival mode, some probably dont fit creative, though the villager's AI would be awesome, as well the wooden panes and stuff
hmm nice suggestion only i would make the ghosts more fearful maybe even ghost bosses that have special attacks, or make a slime monsters that will copy you and even become a copy of you thats wants to kill you. It could at first seem peaceful but then it looks at you for a long while and the player wont notice thats its evil. Then when the player looks away it will attack like endermen but it will not teleport so if you run for shelter you should be safe.
