Who thinks minecraft needs more randomness? (Other than the world generator) Think, what did civilisations do back in the dark ages? They battled! They fought over towns, villages and land.
What about seeing armored villagers running at eachother on open plains? I'm talking about 50 of them. Yes, 50 per army. These villagers would have swords and armor. Some would have bows. No iron golems would spawn. The armies would be recognizable by the colour of their robes. There would be red, brown, black and blue.
Two of these armies would be battling eachother at one time or another. Attempting to join in these battles is an option. If you have the default skin the blue army would accept you and battle agaisnt the other army with you. (Or if you have a load of blue on your custom skin) The other armies will side with you depending on your custom skin. If you have mostly red on your skin, the red side will side with you. If you have mostly brown, the brown side will team up with you. If you have black on your skin, the black army will team with you.
If horses are ever added to minecraft, the warriors would sometimes ride them. Wolves would be part of these battles too. The wolves would have coloured coats depending on the army theyre in. Cats are never in the battles.
Usually wars would take place near npc villages to represent that the armies are battling for it. Iron golems from the village will attack both sides of the battle. Villagers would stay inside. If the armies manage to get to the village they will sort of trap the villagers by herding them into corners. Some villagers will join in if one of the armies are brown robed. The brown robed ones would defend villages. If the attacking army wins the battle, the villagers will become whatever robes they are, say red armies would make red villagers, ect. The villagers would only wear one type of armor. (chainmail) This is so people can see what robes they have. This would also serve as a legit way to get chainmail. Warriors would drop it when theyre killed. (The warriors would pick up stuff as well so your inventory isnt stuffed full of chainmail)
Wars can only occur in mountain, mushroom, deserts and plain biomes.
Wars would only occur when you are in normal or hard mode. Rarely in normal. In hardcore and hard mode these could occur regurarly. Wars would usually occur at day, but sometimes at night. This would be absolute chaos with monsters attacking the armies.
They would go on for about a whole minecraft day, they would usually start in the morning. When wars end the armies seperate and run, or if the armies obliterate eachother. The winners would just travel away somewhere and despawn, usually away from the player.
Wars in smp could be enabled and disabled by the server owner and admins. Wars would occur normally in smp as if everyone was in hard mode.
So suggest new ideas for this below and do something.
To all of you people who think Notch is still working on the game, he stopped working on Minecraft in late 2011. Get your facts straight and stop spamming his twitter about Minecraft updates.
I see Npc's fighting against other towns, or maybe coming to peace, but don't you think 100 is pretty big? The villages are quite small number themselves, and range to a fine amount of 1-2 villagers per shack/home.
I see where your going though, and I support this thread. Jeb said that there is still a whole crap load of AI that will be added. I defiantly think they will interact with each-other, possibly trading goods such as wheat for pumpkins.
Aly or Foe, the villagers should interact and have wars...
I think a hundred would probably be overkill, taxing the CPU very badly though I'd love to see the Testificates doing more. If a may offer an amendment to this, why not have 'explorer Tesificates as well? Seeking out other villages and players (and with the right bribe, possibly leading players back to the village).

Yeah, i've begun to think that 100 is a bit too much. 50 per army instead. I know that some peoples computers cant handle 200 NPCs killing eachother. I'll edit.
