Mobs that take to the skies! We have a total count of zero mobs that fly besides the ender dragon, and really that's the end boss and only lives in one dimension, and there's only one of it. Okay, there's ghasts too. But what about the overworld? Why doesn't it get any flying mobs? And why are all the flying mobs hostile? We already know they can make mobs that fly. Hell, one flies in a big cave system filled with lava. So, onto the suggestion.
The first suggestion is the regular, run-of-the-mill, everyday bird. Just bird. No fancy names. It's be a fairly common mobs, maybe different colored, about the size of a crow. When killed, it would drop feathers. Sometimes, it will lay a bird egg, which looks like a smaller chicken egg, but with dots on it, like a mob spawn egg. Not hostile. You could find bird nests, which act like a chest when you right click on it and it might have some bird eggs, some sticks, and wheat, along with random junk.
Second bird is condor. Only found high in the mountain biomes, these would be obviously very large, about three blocks horizontally and two high. When killed they would drop feathers, sometimes more than 1, and something else I have yet to decide on. These would be rare, and would come with their own type of bird nest, which would be much larger, and have more of everything inside of them. You could find condor eggs inside these nests. Possibly hostile, although I don't know how condors act in real life.
Third is vultures/buzzards/whatever. Only found in deserts, they would be hostile if either your health or hunger gets low. Hunger would have to be lower than health for them to attack. They would drop feathers, and would circle around in the air when not doing anything. When they're about to attack, they start following you from the air, and if you stand still, they circle over you. They will be attracted if you kill any mobs besides creepers and skeletons.
There should be another dimension like nether where you can fight a boss griffin and if you win you get him as a flying pet ...that you can mount and RULES THE SKIES!!!
