In this article to work virus is referred to in game biological weapon for pvp.
Hi, I thought I would post this as a great idea and great opportunity for pvp. The idea is what if we could craft viruses using things like leaves, vines, potions and of course some of the more hazardous viruses could use items that require the player to spawn items (eg from a shop or another player who has creative) which would allow for items like grass and spawners to be used in the virus potion.
An example of how this may work is that in the workbench, if a spawner is used it makes the virus reproductive meaning when it hits one player it then spreads to all other players that player comes into contact with via pvp. Then if you add grass, if the person walks on grass then the virus will be triggered. Same with dirt, sand and bucket of water. Then if 4 leaves and a minimum of 2 vines are used the virus is air born. However the distance of it being air born is determined by how many vines are used minus -1. So if 4 vines are used then it can travel 2^(number_vines-1) which is 8 blocks away. And of course you need 4 leaves to do so in the 3x3 grid. That would lead to a 16 block maximum with the 4 leaves in there and that leads to how to distribute the virus. That is where the armor comes in. So once the virus is completed you drag it into your inventory (all viruses have the same icon) then you go to your work bench. In the work bench you put the virus next to your armor and the product is enchanted armor in a way that adds the virus to your armor.
Hope to see what the viewer thinks of having an in game biological weapon bench would be like for us minecraft people.
It is a serious suggestion but when you think about it there are 200 blocks going to be introduced in the coming version of minecraft and there is already 100 or so blocks that can be used each with their own properties. Sure a lot of them would be useless but with over 300 blocks and counting then lets say there are only 50 useful ones that a large combination of organisms players can deal with when you can put them in a 3x3 grid in different combinations. That math proves it ~2^50 combinations minus whatever exceptions like the leaves. You would need a 64 bit calculator to calculate that because there are so many combinations so it's more than possible.
As per the 200 blocks questioned earlier, I have been informed by another minecraft player who has a picture of the new blocks coming up (I forget the mc version number) but are mainly decoration blocks. So unless this picture is a prank it is indeed true.
Also as per the original question, as lolbot720 has posted the concept may seem confusing to those new to it. Basically there would be a new bench just like the workbench but another object dedicated to biological contagious potions. So basically you can add in blocks from a range of lets say 50 where blocks you stand on would trigger the event of processing the virus. That differs from potions where currently, with potions you need to throw the potion at the person. Also with different combinations of blocks you get different viruses. So if you put the different blocks a user might step on then when they step on it then they will die. But that would be useless unless you make the virus contagious. To do that you would need 4 leaves and 2 vines but the more vines the further the distance. For it to be an active virus, it needs to be attached to armor.
Also to those who suggest making a mod for this, well that isn't practical. This feature is dedicated to pvp and it would require a client mod. So honestly would every minecraft player download this mod and any other mod like it just so they can visit servers that they want to use viruses on. I don't think so. And I have thought about a server mod but that is impractical as it requires some client modding to make it function.

Hope that clears it up.

Splash potions of Harming, imagine instantaneous and explosive diarrhea.
Slowness, Weakness, these are all good enough for chemical/biological warfare.
