A lot of people like to build simple computers in minecraft, so I have two ideas which would make it a lot easier!
For LED's to create them it could be something like...
Redstone Redstone Redstone
RSTorch GlowStone Wool
Redstone Redstone Redstone
and whatever color the wool is, is what color the LED could be... (If your planning on building a MC computer you'd probably be using creative mode though)
basically whenever this is powered, the block goes from not bright to bright (derrrr)
Helpful for making displays.
Next is sticky redstone..
Combine Slimeball + Redstone and you get sticky redstone.
What this would do is allow you to place redstone on walls and ceiling which would make building minecraft computers would be so much easier (Could also make building simpler things like traps easier, quicker, and more compact)
I don't know if this would really work to make a display. Would the LED be one meter wide and tall and about 0 thick? Or would it be a torch? Also, you'd need a LOT of LEDs (10K for a 100x100 image, which is low-res), so you'd have to have a viewing angle wide enough to see all 100 blocks. That would involve far view most likely, which would cause more lag on top of the lag from having so many lights.
Sticky redstone I always say no to, because it isn't that hard to make a redstone tower to make the current go upward, and still only fills a 1x1 space.
