HAHA! mojang thinks colored glass is a joke, so it never be in minecraft! take that!
Remember, I made this topic because i wanted to give the community a way to be heard. not because i wanted fame or recognition. all I want and all we want is to be able to express the same dream and provide equal oportunity for the fans of minecraft to make a difference. If you sit there and mock us for trying to do that, then you must not be one of the community.
Anyways, mojang has been looking into this and we will hopefully see this in a future update. I hope it will come very soon, as I know a lot of people would like the ability to color light ingame. Like Etho, he really wants to add some blue lights to his Mancave.
This will be a huge opportunity to get a lot of good buildings.
Although, I'm very sure that a few of the things in the 2.0 april fools joke we will see in a future update.

Yeah, some of those things (colored glass, coal blocks) were actually decent. Others (homocidal chickens) were obviously a joke.
After view the "2.0" trailer, I think that color glass is ugly and should never makes it way to valina. Totally not support!
Oh don’t get me wrong, I think it could have looked better too but that is because they did it differently. Look at the screenshots in the OP and compare the vivid bright full colors of this topics screenshots to the washed out or "foggy" ones in 2.0... THAT’s how colored glass should be done, with full color overlay and not as a simple opacity change like they did in the 2.0 vid.
Then again it is just April fools, they probably just threw it together quick and an opacity change would make sense.
Trust me, if they were able to do it the way as depicted here, you would completely change your mind -_^
I am no programmer but the experience of doing art for game developers the past 5 years, I can say with confidence it is possible. Whether or not it will create lag is uncertain but basically the logic is , colored glass is a solid color and instead of staying opaque, the surface texture/color of the glass is blended with the textures behind it. it is true that blending colors will give you a completely different color but when you move around the block the textures behind the color will move giving the glass a brilliant array of colors similar to the one you are blending thus the glass will appear that color and clear with no "fog" if you will.
if it isnt possible to improve it withought causing serious performance issues, i still support it. colored glass is better than no colored glass imo
HAHA! minecraft 2.0 was in my opinion the greatest feat this thread has pulled off as of yet! i know its unofficial and was simply a joke, but it proves two things clearly:
One: Mojang are completely aware of its support, to a degree that it was picked out amongst all the suggestions we have here and chosen to be in this mock-version, which brings me to the second point:
TWO: Colored glass is officially in the code! It has literally been implemented in a semi-official client-release! This is almost as good as it gets, it was obviously rushed and put together quickly, but the code for it is literally in the system now! They will simply have to polish it and BAM, its a head canon feature in the game! Well done community! We did well! ;D

Not so fast, as the minecraft jar was a joke for April Fools, all supposed features including tinted glass won't exist in an official version update, but it is clear that Mojang or Dinnerbone (for that matter) has acknowledgement of said suggestion, and have some hope that it might get it's own debut in 1.6.
Would be interesting if tinted glass could possibly bear the same mechanics of dying leather. This would allow alot of customisation.
If the stuff you're proposing gets implemented: think of all the possibilities!
Minecraft cities can have colourful windows, and beautiful night lights of all colours. The end result would be staggering. Coloured windows and lights certainly would help minecraft become more realistic for sure!
I don't think anyone could have proposed it better than you have, Galactic_Muffin ;).

BBCode Render failed due to reaching MaxNestingDepth(80) for Tag: spoiler
Horses were in April Fools yet it's still going to be in a future update.
Colored glass was in April Fools yet it's highly supported.

As said before, I don't wish to discourage anyone, it's just better than you finding out later.
Looks pretty, I have to admit.
