• Here is a cool mod by Georqq that uses the same system suggested here; smelting colored sands to create colored glass, check it out!: Colored sands into colored glass
• Here is an outstanding colored light mod that was in the works by theoneandonlyflexo check out his videos and his channel! Video 1 Video 2
The only issue with them seems to be that the creators have discontinued updating them.
So (and forgive me if I am failing to understand something important), how can you say that this is not possible as a mod? I, like everyone else, would love to see it implemented into the actual game by Mojang, but I think it would also be very cool to see it as a mod/plugin, something that I'm willing to bet some skilled programmer on these forums could create.
And yet, as you pointed out, there are clear cases of people making almost exactly what was described in the post:

Thanks, and again, this is a great idea!
Thank you for your support
The reason some modders have told me they have stopped working on the colored light mod is because they have reached a point where they can no longer advance with a mod using the current lighting engine. They all explained to me why a seamless colored light addition isn't possible with the current buggy light engine so i updated the op several times to accommodate for this. That notice in the OP was not originally there, in-fact I was originally making arguments that it was possible to mod. However my claims was requested by some modders to be changed as they explained that it is not possible unless Mojang updates the engine first. This does not mean that there isn't a way; that is the first argument I made and I still hold to it. It just depends how many resources and time modders and Mojang wants to put into it. There are currently some modders still tackling the project and are still making progress, however so-far, practically it is not possible.
With that said, pushing this suggestion towards modding will greatly depreciate its potential to be readily available and appreciated by all audiences. I understand that modders want to have the opportunity to program a minecraft mod that is this popular and valuable to the public. It's a good challenge and I feel it should be pursued. But when it comes down to it, due to the fact that it is one of the few suggestions with the most un-paralleled demand, the rightful place for colored glass and colored light is in vanilla and not external. The original suggestion was directed towards vanilla after all because of how many times, i had seen it being demanded before-hand.
I support this 100%. I love the detail that you put into this thread, and the graphics really do add that factor that make it more appealing. Great work, and again, I really do support this idea.

Wow, so this is why you are so popular Muffin, I thought the reason you had so much rep was for your amazing builds but I would have never thought you were also the author of the most popular suggestion in the forum. Does this mean I know someone famous? o_o lol
Anyway, very well thought out and well documented.
She clearly states in the OP that if you do not support the suggestion, explain your reasoning. Otherwise, it just sounds like you are making meaningless criticism based on jealousy or to simply spite the suggestion.
So, please, explain your opinion; On what grounds do you think colored glass does not fit in Minecraft?
Yes AWESOME totally approved. I think that would be cool for building mansions and stuff and a whole lot more! Nice idea! I hope Jeb sees this and decides to add it.
