Yes you are right, mojang has seen it. However the purpose for this thread is no longer to gain the attention of mojang since we have clearly done so but to give them a legitamite reason to attempt to implement the suggestion. The more people who support it, the more valuable minecraft would be if this were implemented. eventually, there will be a point where the outcome outweighs the work load And resources required to implement it.
As for me, i am no different than you guys. I am a fan and I wish to get no personal gain out of this. I mearly want to see this in the game so I can start using it. I don't want any special privlages, I don't want fame, I don't want to be in the credits. I just want to play with colored glass and light just like everyone else
Alright, this is my absolute favorite suggestion. The thread now has over 100,000 views and 1,500 replies... when, if at all, does Mojang look at this? Whether or not they think it's a viable option in Minecraft's future, it would be great to have them at least address this suggestion given the huge (perhaps unmatched) support for it. When a suggesting gets this big, it must be for a reason, and I'd like to know it's being seen!
Edit: Oops, just saw the "has Mojang seen this" on your post. Still hope they're thinking about it though

So, have i mis-interpretated this all along? Is colored glass possible, while colored light is not? Does this mean that colored light is completely off the chart, or that it would take a re-write of the current engine?
colored sand is already technically possible - it is similiar to colored sheeps.
But light was precalculated till now and if this might become possible will depend on the rendering rewrite.
There is a chance that they will add colored light emmision to the rewrite from start.
So I have heard, so there is still hope? That is great!

I also appreciate your level headedness about this. It is a great idea, and many people would freak out with how popular their post became. But instead of becoming snotty and condescending like some people, you keep trying to rally people up to get your idea to pass, not caring about if you get credit or not. This makes you an asset to the mine craft community and I personally appreciate your efforts. Once again, great idea, extremely well thought out, and the colored glass part is very straight forward and wouldn't be hard to implement. I look forward to seeing what other great idea's you come up with in the future and will continue to support them! Good luck getting this one passed, I hope you do.
Btw, I started an off-shoot thread (that has now disappeared into the mists of obscurity, as my threads usually does) about this already, but making colored glass craftable with redstone-lamps would open this suggestion to the redstone-areas as well, as this could lead to the re-configuration of the upcoming light-detector to sense different colors of light by adding a color-filter. What is your opinion on this Galactic muffin?
In regards to the coloured light part of coloured glass. We've been told it's not possible with the current lighting engine right? I quote directly from the wiki on ender portal blocks prior to 1.9 Pre-release 4: 'Prior to Beta 1.9 Pre-release 4, End Portal Frames used a different texture and emitted a blue shaded light at level 15.' http://www.minecraft...nd_portal_frame in the first segment of the history section. If it was possible to make blue shaded light with the same lighting engine then, why now has it been announced that it would be impossible in vanilla or a mod due to the lighting engine? Odd... don't mistake this for a conspiracy theory. Just thinking is all.
I'm sorry, but you have misunderstood it as far as I know. The current light engine supports these two colors, a warmer shade of orangey-yellow for all light-sources, and a darker shade of blue for moonlight, that's it. implementing more colors would definitely require a re-write, and those who have said it earlier in the thread knows what they are talking about.
Most definitely a thumbs up! I love the way you demonstrated it, as well as explained it. Why would anyone say no to pretty, pretty glass? I would love to build a greenhouse out of... Well, green glass! I am *definitely* a fan of using dye, because then we have purple!
For the time being we could stick with only those colours then
You are obviously misunderstanding this. The color of moonlight obviously belong to the moonlight only, while every other light source in the game uses the other. We are technically already "sticking" to those two colors, what this thread is about is the expansion of it, resulting in even more colors.

Yes, I remember you making a post on this earlier in the topic and I think it would be a great idea that is if a light detector is actually added to Minecraft and if it doesn't add more texture data to the .png. if they were toy color like-block arrays through a similar process as biomes, it may work then. And I guess I'm asking because I don't actually know; Is there a light detector set to release in an upcoming update of vanilla?
