one problem I have with the mods though is how all of them have really desaturated glass textures. It just looks ... Boring. I assume the only way to brighten up the colors of the glass is to add some code in vanilla. Something similar to blending mode in Photoshop ( which I know is possible in games because xna has a similar feature)
Nah, if some are like that then it must just be how they made them because the ones from Glasscraft in my screenshot seem pretty intense.
btw: I just recently discovered the Minecraft RPG-clone for iOS and Android called Block Story. It is years ahead of Minecraft Pocket-Edition in almost every way imaginable.
* The relevance here is that it's lighting engine allows for colored light, and it uses it a LOT. Block Story is a major showcase for how dramatic an affect colored lighting can have on a game like Minecraft. And if a clone of Minecraft on Android can do this... I think a PC version should be able to easily handle it too.
Here's a screenshot from Block Story showing some of it's colored lighting capabilities:

ooooo that is a very good point mineCrak. Thank god for competitors, if the demands of the community doesn't convince mojang, competition will. I would like to add this to the op once I get my hands on a real computer if that's ok with you
I would love to see this in minecraft, sure there are colored class mods out there but standardizing them to work in a multiplayer game should be the way to go. Why would you play it singleplayer anyway?

Sure, and that pic from Block Story, well that one's not my screenshot it's one of the ones displayed on Block Story's website. So do as you please with it too. In fact they have more than that which show their colored lighting in action that you can choose from.
You've been right all along, colored lighting would make a dramatic and entrancing addition to Minecraft that would be worth an update's worth of work from Mojang.

Even though you would have to redo the lighting files (er something) this would make maps better and more involved, and also add disco!!!!!! p.s. there should be a black light that is emitted as dim like redstone torches.
Also if we do get colored lighting luminosity of bricks could be more custom and made blending modes could be added to transparent blocks.
I.E. Fire can now have a RGB code of say "195 105 075" so it can firey orange tint, whilst Ice can have an additive blending mode with a "000 000 100" base color. So say I put ice next to fire, the light given off through the ice would be "195 105 175" making a purple.
And maybe we can have negative lights for things like adventure mode to darken areas.
I'd love this in Creative. Only problem if it's implemented is that next the "make a LCD screen" ppl will want to be able to control the intensity of the light source to get full RGB screens. O.o ;-)
Reminds me of all those colors in the beautiful world of terraria. Although I always thought that minecraft should be more diverse with many colors too. Including colored torch's as I also do support!

Is there a mod out for this? I have been looking for about an hour and have found nothing that works...some mods will glitch and only create one color of glass in which does not have a color light effect. It is really disappointing because this would be such a great addition to Minecraft! I hope that this will be worked on soon!
Wooah! Thanks for posting here georqq, I didn't know about your Mod until I saw your Sig.
Folks; It looks like georqq's Colored Glass Mod may be the first one fully updated to MC 1.3.2!
And he even has colored sand and sandstone and uses colored sand to make the colored glass just like suggested in this thread, making his Mod unique amongst the various colored glass mods. You can even make glowing sand and glass by smelting in Glowstone-Dust like you would imagine. Check it out!
