This is a really cool suggestion that i found since somebody had your signature. The fact that mojang has seen this and you had a conversation with dinnerbone is really cool. Im going to watch this topic and see what happens in the future
I cannot support this idea as long as the following things are supported in the same thread:
1. ChadGarion25's idea regarding dyes:
I don't like the idea of staining glass in this way. I prefer the "Dye the sand, cook the sand" method.
2. Neraphim's idea regarding refraction:
If this were to occur, I would rather see redstone actually involved to give it a more special type (more "electrical" in that sense). Furthermore, I wouldn't want to see this available in multiple colors.
Those things being said: I LOVE the way you put together the main idea for this. I would love to utilize this in my own Minecraft experience!

Thank you! I'm glad the signatures are helping to spread the word!

Those are just other creative suggestions from other supporters that could possibly be different solutions to problems. Just support the main topic if you don't like other peoples suggestions, silly.
there are several mods, just look a few pages backwards
True. In fact, I keep coming across more, heh heh. I just found out that ljduckfield has a colored glass mod too, it's called Duckfields More Glass that was updated for 1.2.5. It also has clear colored Glass blocks that can emit light when activated. It currently uses a new Ore for making the clear glass with though.

Here's what his stained glass looks like:
one problem I have with the mods though is how all of them have really desaturated glass textures. It just looks ... Boring. I assume the only way to brighten up the colors of the glass is to add some code in vanilla. Something similar to blending mode in Photoshop ( which I know is possible in games because xna has a similar feature)
This idea would bring alot more Decorations I support
Also you can make a pixel art with the glass and design a stained glass picture for bigger buildings
Oh yea you could! The posobilities are endless!!!
Redstoners would go crazy over this because they could even make color display LCD tvS O_o
...OR LIGHT BRIGHTS :3
Quick question if there is several mods for colored glass already, then why does it need to be implemented into Minecraft?
This isn't hate, sorry if it sounds like it

Well theres other features that have been added to the game which were once recognized as mods so why can't we have colored glass in the game without a mod? I just think colored glass would be cool but i have not downloaded one of those mods

I am a dumb and lazy user who wants to have access to cool features that mods may have but that don’t require all the inconsistent unorganized/ messy installation and updating between mods separately from vanilla.
And sometimes I want to be able to have the same experience as my friends on multiplayer without having to ask them to go download and install a mod every time I want them to be able to 'see what I see'.
Also for some mods, features are only possible if it is done in vanilla because it may require a large change in the engine code. (for example: Saturation of the glass color via blending with the background and colored light; assuming those kinds of features are desirable)
When it comes down to it, having mods made vanilla just makes everyone’s life easier (well for users anyway ) and provides a more consistent gaming experience with friends.
Definitely yes! To be honest, when I first saw the signature banner, I was like "well.... okay... colored glass, that's...that's cool I guess", but after seeing those pictures I've definitely changed my opinion to something like "YES YES YES!" It's an amazing mood setter, and hey, who doesn't love colors?

Here's what his stained glass looks like:
- The Cubic Chunks Mod is back! Be a part of it's rebirth and Development.
-- Robinton's Mods: [ Mirror ] for some of his Mods incl Cubic Chunks Mod, due to DropBox broken links.
- Dungeon Generator for the Open Cubic Chunks Mod
- QuickSAVE-QuickLOAD for the Open Cubic Chunks Mod

You should be able to find some colored sand on the beaches.

That to.
Exactly this ^
