yes well, I beleive it would also be perfectly acceptable if not all dies are used for stained glass in the event that some colors dont make sense or are not much different in veriety. (I.e black, white, grey etc) if there is not much of a purpose of adding certain colors to the array of crafting combinations for colored glass, there is no need to search for ways to incorporate them.
Gray glass would look nice, It could be used to give sort of a foggy look to rooms. Black glass would work well if it had a dimming effect.
The only color that I don't see being necessary is white
I love the colored glass and the glowstone and glass making colored light but not the colored sand. I think you should smelt regular sand into regular glass then in working bench put the glass and a dye to make colored glass

The colored sand and sandstone would add a lot to the game aethetics-wise, it would make a lot builders really happy, me included.
ARRRRRGH I SUPPORTED THIS 2 MONTHS AGO AND
NO ONE FROM MOJANG HAS EVEN NOTICED THE THREAD SINCE!!!! COME ON
MOJANG!!!!!! ADD IT NNNNOOOOWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i emailed notch once ( i guess he read it )
cause with in a few updates like 6 of the things i had listed about popular mods and stuff were implemented they must have gone around and looked at mods
also if you can make this a mod that would still bee sweat
Why hasn't this idea been implemented yet?! I support, though it's not like my support makes much of a difference when thousands of people are already supporting.

If you like the idea, please support it by bumping the thread... Thanks!
Checking back on this topic after more than a thousand posts of other people...glad to see all the love! And all the people contacting the MC team about possibly adding it. That's really cool, and I support that too.
And once you have that you're gonna want colored glass panes, then colored sandstone, sandstone stairs, slabs, colored TNT and so on. It's colored wood all over again.
It's nice for builders and all that, but after the colored wood they have to focus more on other parts of minecraft, like the redstone and rpg aspects. Redstoners never get any major updates apart from new bugs to exploit.(the redstone lamp doesn't count as it mostly helps with aesthetics(*cough* building *cough*) and not the mechanisms.) Most of the people that play minecraft will benefit from the rpg aspects so please don't start tweeting requests on building before they have finished the villagers properly.
PS: When I say building I mean timelapse class stuff.
EDIT: I forgot the tripwires, but that's also just another addition for adventuremaps or beginners with redstone. The really big redstoners only benefit from the few bugs and aesthetics(again) it has.

1. these were outlined in the OP. It isn't that hard to add
2. There are many other things that could come out of this, not just aethetics. Namely light-based redstone devices.
Kaapo: Comparing redstoners and builders is like comparing engineers and designers. They have to be balanced for the best result and the way you guys want it to go is definitely not balanced. When I say redstone I talk about the timing and logic used not the output(redstone lamp) or input(tripwires) anyone can place them.
Jellomob: Like I said, the redstone lamp didn't add much to redstone and I doubt this will. Oh and this will be another thing people will want afterwards: colored redstone lamps.
But you all missed the point. The thing I want to say is that even though you say things like "But it's so easy to make" it will bring a lot of bugs with it. Not interesting redstone bugs(No, they're not all interesting) but ugly graphic and rendering bugs. then they have to be fixed and so on. I support you, but please wait until they have finished what they are doing(which is currently very nice) and added things to other areas of minecraft.
