I've always wanted to be able to have coloured glass in minecraft but I was always worried that the coloured sand would look silly, and I didn't want it to be crafted from glass as that makes no sense.
You are right, colored sand crafted from glass doesn't make sense. But making colored glass from colored sand does.
Also, colored sand doesn't have to look "silly", it's just a texture and can be changed to look good. Colored sand would also enable the crafting of colored steps and colored halfsteps. Here is an image of colored sandstone steps being used in a build: http://i229.photobuc...7-10_025655.png
On a side note. Legos is not a word, it's a spanish town (probably). The correct term is lego bricks. But lego as the plural is also acceptable. . The more you know.
And lastly, nobody cares. Most of us called them 'Legos' when we were kids and we intend to keep it that way. Please refrain from trolling on this topic.

I understand where you're coming from on this, the example textures for the colored sand are a bit too... intense, for lack of a better word. They could always be edited to be less neon-y.
IRL colored sand is usually duller in color, which would probably fit better minecraft-wise
Side note: Gonna make me one of them sand bottles the moment this gets made into a mod
When I heard colored glass I though "cool, but not really worth it". When I saw the light color change, I thoguht "OMG this is so worth it!" Yeah, I'm a strange boy. XD I support.

I like the idea, you could add some pretty awesome lighting effects to different areas. I could put green glass into my tree farm and give the air a green glow, I could put red glass in my magma works and give it the effect of being filled with heat. I could even use red, orange, and yellow glass in sequence with redstone lamps to create alarm lights.
The crafting recipe is ingenious and the idea and implementation is awesome. Vote it up! Maybe, it'd be cool if the colored glass naturaly spawned in the Nether as well as the Overworld.
I think this looks really cool but instead of being part of vanilla Minecraft it should just be a mod since it over complicates things and is a little flashy.

Now to play the waiting game...
I support this suggestion
Colored torches would be cool too.
They would fit rather nicely into some light-based redstone devices.
blue dye + redstone= stand back this could get messy!
well, combineing coloired glass with glowstone lamps would make a nice effect
combine all the colours to get a shadow light torch with a black flame? heck yes!
Minecraft has no colored glass witch makes me sad so i made it crash until i get it
--- END ERROR REPORT----------
I'm glad you put so much thought into this so we actually have a chance of getting this
Kinda made my brain hurt lol, but i approve!
Lol but seriously this idea is great.
