Well, I definitely support the idea. Mojang really needs to iron everything out. Minecraft, as great as it is, has so much potential to be even better and it's really unfortunate that a lot of the code is messed up. I hope a reworked graphics engine will allow glass to render the same way as your photoshopped images as opposed to the half opacity method seen in the mods. What was the method you used in PS; did you multiply the layers?
nope it was just a simple overlay. The glass was actually solid color and then I added overlay which simply just merges the colors of the layers behind the glass and the color of the glass itself. This effect is so simple that I know for a fact that even Xbox uses this feature in games very commonly which means it should work on PC just as well. The only Thing that could be complicated is actually not nearly as much of an issue as getting the overlay to work properly and that is rendering transparencies behind transparencies.
Honestly this is something mojang says they want to focus on fixing but I dont think its much of an issue at all. In my opinion, get colored glass working before fixing something like that.
It's only a matter of time before they add it. That being said I think it would have some performance impacts on older systems and that alone might keep them from giving it the go ahead.
NEWS FLASH!
Recent photos showing lightning bug fixes posted by Jeb may hint to the new lightning engine being worked on! This probably means colored glass/lighting is open to be added!
BTW, may I suggest that we can dye redstone lamps too, so we can make a block emit colored light efficiently?
Support! If not the colored glass, at least the light engine should have this. (so RP2 can have colored light too :P) This will make MC look a lot more interesting.

What pictures?! They are adding this? Well, I would think that they should.

Hmm... that's interesting. Wonder if it would be as easy as just...
opacityR = 0.0;
opacityG = 1.0;
opacityB = 0.5;
if the light engine was reworked? hmm...
I'm personally a fan of just the light engine supporting this, and not a simple dying system. Perhaps water in front of a light source makes it blue in an ocean, greenish in a swamp? Stuff like that would be interesting. But for starters, the lighting system should have this ability, so that we can actually implement it without mods.
I was a bit skeptical, sort of went like this: Colored glass? So what's different?
But about the colored light... wow. I would love to see that in Minecraft. Would be a wicked addition to my disco room.
