This sounds like an awesome idea. I would assume with all the coding they've already done for Minecraft, adding colors to lighting and glass would be rather easy.
I know it'd be hard to do but if they rewrite the lighting system it would open opportunities for the colored glass as well as many other things that have to do with lighting.
What happens when there are two or more colored lights around the same area? Which light color will win? Also what happens when there are two glass blocks of different colors stacked on top of each other. Would the first glass block determine the color or the second block?
well, i think it should be if 2 diff. coloured glass were placed on 2 different sides of glowstone, it should make both colours
ex:-
red on a side while green is on another side = one side would make red light, while the other would make green light
i also think that it would be a great mod, if you ever make it, can i add it to my modpack?

I was wondering which side would dominate over the other if there was an odd number of blocks between them. Which color would get the middle block?

Isn't colored glass made with different steel types, like copper, iron, gold, nickle, etc...
you are correct, thus why the colored sand idea makes sense if you wanted a real-life representation. unfortunately adding gold nuggets, iron and other alloys to sand would be the most realistic idea but I'm afraid it may get too frustrating for players to understand the concept.
Harder than you think bro... :/
