Congrats on your idea being added! I'm proud to say you have my +1! Good job! Now, the next challenge! Get this idea in after the lighting engine is re-written! Dinnerbone and Jeb are making the right choices on adding your ideas. Keep these brilliant ideas coming.
Congratulations, We did it! Galactic_Muffin, well done. I may be a few days late on the news, Terraria 1.2 is my main focus of interest at the time being, but I must show my gratitude for the Member that over a year kept this thread going, and what did it lead to if not success? Thank you for representing the majority of this vast community in this matter.
Colored glass was made lighter and more transparent in the latest snapshot:
Just to let people know.
oooo glad to see it's a work in progress :3 looks much better. not as vibrant as i was hoping but better.
Anyway, here are some screens of Cpt's colored light mod being used on my server, Deadman Dungeons which will be out early November. :3 Just a little teaser for colored light. -_^
Festive town streets illuminated by overhanging red lanterns!...
Possibly the coolest potion shops evar?...
Creepy dungeons are even more creepy...
...and those are 3 of millions of reasons why colored light is a MUST in vanilla Minecraft! -_^
Instead ofcolouring the glass with dyed water, since it doesn't seem real that you can dip glass in water to change its colour, what about dyeing the sand with dyes or coloured water, then putting the coloured sand in the furnace to make coloured glass?
Or maybe, since you said you don't want the process to be too easy, maybe we could make coloured sand like above, then combine it with normal glass in the crafting table, perhaps with a fire charge to smelt it together, then you get two coloured glass blocks from it.
Maybe the crafting system could be made so that when you craft a non-ore object with a fire charge, blaze rod, or blaze powder, or maybe lava, or coal, or charcoal(basically all fuels except wood), like wood to make charcoal, it would be crafted, and maybe the crafter would take a bit damage. What I mean by this is, when(for example) you are in the Nether and you have no furnace, but you are too lazy to go back through the portal, you could use a blaze rod or something firey to craft your glass in the Nether without a furnace.
now colored light is just around the corner
Congrats to the creator!
Constantly evolving, reaching further heights.

Back to the glass not being as "vibrant"
Do you want my resource pack for the snapshot? I overrode Minecraft's Textures, resulting in a much more vibrant color of glass and panes in 1.7
I just scraped out my textures from my Glass Mod for 1.6.4, and made it a resource pack!

Colored lights would make our worlds give out a more transient feel! +1!
Do you have a server address yet, or will it be released Nov. 3? That looks amazing.

An alternate timeline emerges.
However, we must first start from the beginning...
