The Kryther is an area like the Aether and the Nether that my friend and I thought of last year. It is a blizzard area that you cannot stand in for more than a minute, or you will freeze to death. Since it's a blizzard, there is snow blowing everywhere. It is very hard to see, and you travel slower in it. The render distance is limited to small regardless the setting, however you can still switch to tiny.
How to enter: Gather snowballs and make blocks. Place them in the same way as you would a nether portal. When you've made that, fill the portal with glass. It should look like this: = Snow = glass
Now that you've made the portal, the inside should turn white and you can enter!
Once inside: When you get inside, you may first notice there is a bar. The bar represents your warmth. When it's red, it means you're good on warmth. As you stand outside, it will decrease and turn light blue. The lighter the blue, the colder you are. When the bar reaches the bottom, you will die. You may also notice that you can't see much. Don't venture off too far, because you may lose your portal! To stay alive, you can find caves in mountains and light a fire. By placing blocks to close off the cold and lighting a fire, you may have your warmth bar raise up.
Mobs inside: There are going to be mobs inside of the Kryther, of course.
Wolves: Completely white 10 hearts of health Cannot be tamed Attack even when not provoked Travel in packs Drop: Fur One block high, two blocks long, one block wide
Polar Bears: Completely white 15 hearts of health Attack when provoked Travel alone Drop: fish Two blocks high, two blocks long, one block wide
Moose: Brown 12 hearts of health Attack even when not provoked Travel alone Drop: leather and meat Two blocks high, three blocks long, one block wide
How to stay alive better: Wolves aren't completely useless to kill anymore. When you kill them, they drop fur. A fur is like a leather. Make a complete set of fur armor, and you can survive in the Kryether up to 20 minutes in complete frost.
Reasons to go in:
There are areas of cabins that you can find (5% chance of spawning).
Going into these cabins, you can find chests. Chests hold goodies consisting of fur, iron, food, and ice blocks. This is the only way to legitimately get ice.
hmmm very cool! maybe add some ores to, this would be amazing, and also villages there?
I'll try and make some screenshots of what it might look like! ;D
ya there can be like eskimo villages and stuff and they live in igloos and have chests full of fur armor.
And maybe a fire can be like 4 wood in the corners of the crafting box and a flint and steel in the middle, but wont diminish the flint and steel, and with a right click it will pack up the fire!

Inside the Xether, your render distance is limited to "Small" regardless of your setting. You can still change the distance to "Tiny" though.
and why not call it the Kryther? ( Kry is short for Kryo which is COLD in greek.
what does The "XE" mean in Xether?
