well many adventure maps would be better with this because you could activate a lever or something and it could fall out of the ceiling which would be badass... + you know chests dont float IRL

According to this logic, everything in the game should be effected by gravity.

They don't 'float', but they can be bolted onto walls to stay up. Maybe the chests in Minecraft get bolted onto the walls?
Although I do agree that it would be cool having a chest fall in an adventure map, it's very very unlikely anything like this would be implemented in the game
Do you know how hard this idea would be to code if you want the chest to keep the items? The closest you could come would make the chest drop and spit out the items in it.

Why does everyone think I don't have an avatar? Is there anyone who can see the one black pixel.
Please click the dragons, they need to grow. Also, my fully grown dragons can be found in my bio.
A chest would be a lot more likely to hold up than dirt or clay. Maybe you could put a weight in the bottom of the chest but I still highly doubt that this will ever be close to being considered to be implemented into the vanilla game.
I think the weight block would be a better idea than making the chest affected by gravity, so that blocks placed on it would be affected by gravity. It would definitely be useful for some adventure map makers.

"Shall I craft you a ladder to help you off that high horse now?"
So you're saying it's normal for rock to float in the air?
...But that's just my opinion.

If I dug under a chest in a Dungeon then it will fall and be trapped as soon as I cover it?
Chests more like sand? WTF is this? That's hard to code!
