I was thinking... If we have Redstone that conducts electricity, why not make a use for Lapis Lazuli and make Bluestone that conducts Water? I mean, I don't think I'm the first one here to say we need a wat to transport water without digging huge channels. How are we going to transport Water up a hill? It bugs me somewhat. So, I thought, and I've come to a conclusion; Bluestone. Simple crafting, like so (the Blue Wool is Lapis and the White Wool is String);
And you get six pieces of Bluestone. Bluestone would work almost identically to Redstone - it has a bandwidth of fifteen Blocks, but there is a simple device called a Water Pump that acts like a Repeater in every way, and is crafted the same as a Repeater only with Bluestone in place of Redstone. Then, to create Water, there is an Ice Stick, crafted like a Torch but with Bluestone in the stead of the Coal. It's in-world texture looks akin to a Torch but with a Diamond on top of it, but it requires a Redstone charge to melt the Ice and cause the Ice Stick to fill the Bluestone Curcuit. In place of a Pressure Plate is a Sponge, which is crafted like your average Planks/Stone Pressure Plate but with Sand. If water touches the Sponge, it would flood into the Bluestone Curcuit (Note that the Sponge is a temporary Bluestone utility until the Sponge block is brought into Survival). Fires touching a filled Blustone Curcuit would go out, and powered Redstone Utilities would be deactivated when touching filled Bluestone, but that would be solved if you use a Waterproof Cover, crafted with Wool surrounding Bluestone in the Crafting Grid. This can be right-click placed on top of redstone utilities to protect them from any Blustone Curcuit that might inevitably have to be next to a Redstone Curcuit. There is also a Hydraulic Piston, crafted like a Piston but with Bluestone, that works when powered with Water, and a waterwheel, crafted with Wooden Planks surrounding Bluestone, which would power Redstone when touching Water or powered Bluestone. There shall also be a Geyser Cannon, crafted like a Dispenser but with Bluestone replacing the Redstone, which would fire things like a Dispenser when powered by Water. Also, there shall be a Water Pressure Valve, which acts like a Lever only it activates Bluestone and is crafted with Bluestone above the Stick in the Crafting Grid. Unlike a Lever, however, it doesn't create a charge, but disables a charge in it's off-state and lets the charge go through in it's on-state, like so ( being Uncharged Bluestone, being Charged Bluestone, being an on-state Pressure Valve and being an off-state Valve)...
Example 1 (On-State Valve)
Example 2 (Off-State Valve)
So a Pressure valve doesn't create a Charge, but decides whether a Charge can be let through. However, a Pressure Valve can be turned on/off with a Redstone Charge.
One main thing I hope to see with Bluestone is the addition of Powered Boats of some kind. My main idea is a Ferry Rail, crafted like so ( being Bluestone, being Stick and being String);
[]
Ferry Rails would be placed on top of water, and Boats that touch them would snap to them and only be able to travel along connected Ferry rails until they come of a loose end. Ferry rails could be powered by Bluestone, and Powered Boats is really what I want to see in Minecraft. Update (1/04/2012): I have had a brilliant post of support by lolbot720, and he told me that Lapis itself should be replaced completely with Bluestone. i completely agree with that! Please vote on my secondary poll if you think it should happen. If I get10 votes on 'Yes', then I'll implement it into my main post. If I get 10 'No' votes, however, it will automatically be unimplemented - but if another comment arises saying that I should, I will refresh the poll and ask again.Once I have ten comments saying to replace Lapis, I will ignore the poll results and implement it anyway. EDIT (2/04/2012): I have had a huge amount of feedback against the replacement of Lapis, and am currently deleting the poll. UPDATE (2/04/2012): another great idea by lolbot720 - he suggested that it be renamed Waterstone. i think this is a good idea, and I am taking a poll vote on it. The same rules apply as in the Lapis replacement poll - +10, it gets implemented, -10 the poll is deleted and the idea rejected. New Bluestone Utility (1/04/2012): I have been thinking about the Allocator (http://www.minecraft...-the-allocator/) lately, and how many new things could be done if it were implemented. And then a thought struck me to link it to the Bluestone system. I thought about it. then, it came to me - the 'Allocator and Bucket'. It would be an Allocatorthat made a Water Source Block if either connected to a charged Bluestone Curcuit (which would supply Water infinitely as long as the Bluestone curcuit is was connected to was still full) or the Bucket-looking top half of the 'Allocator and Bucket' was full (which would supply a Water Source Block until the Water in the top ran out. The idea needed a bit of refining, but I think it's done now - I've changed it to the 'Allocator and Cauldron' now, because of the obvious fact that the Bucket was a tool, but the Cauldron was a Utility and made sense to be linked with another Utility. So, if the 'Allocator and Cauldron' was connected to a filled Bluestone Curcuit,the Cauldron-like part on the top would appear full forever until the bluestone power ran out. if the Cauldron was filled in with a Bucket, however, it would only run for 15 seconds - one third of the water in the Cauldron runs out every five seconds. This also links to a new idea I had about Bluestone - the wire would be able to suck Water from a Cauldron, but the water in the Cauldron would drain out of the Cauldron at the same speed with which the 'Allocator and Cauldron' takes the Water from a Bucket. You like?
Now, I might make a banner soon, but, otherwise, please press the +1 to support it!
interesting, but instead of died string, u use mossy cobble or redstone and dye it or even died sugar to give sugar another purpose, one sugar & 1 dye create 2 bluestone much like a dye is created and given the diggerent wires would not interact without a water to power converter,

Okay...? The Water/Power converter was a good idea, but it's pointless because of the water wheel which is way easier to make... And the rest of that made no sense to me. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
So let me get this right... You want to add another "type" of redstone that does nearly the same thing, but won't stack with redstone...
The only use I could see for this is circuits that don't interfere with redstone. I like the idea of water pipes that move water uphill, and auto boats, but I don't think we need a second redstone that does almost the same things.
Could be good for a mod, but I don't think this needs to be in vanilla.

this, with some refinement has potential. I agree with the use of suger or some other underused component beyond string
Why Sugar? The main ingredient with which the Bluestone is crafted is not the String, but the Lapis. Sugar actually has a use for making Food, whihc is useful to surviving. Lapis, however, which is as rare as Diamonds, is completely useless, and only able to be used for making two different textures of Blue Block. Anyway, thanks for the +1 and vote.

Excuse me? I can't see in any way that this does the same thing as Redstone. Sure, it has many Utilities that can already be activated with a Redstone charge, but once the player has found the sufficient Lapis and crafted all of the appropriate Utilities, one can take advantage of a block that is almost more common than everything else and has very few uses compared to most Ores - I mean water.
String already has a number of uses, I'd like to give some of the lesser used materials some functions is all
Look, as I said, the main component of the Bluestone wires is not the string. Though I do see your point, I used String because it made sense to make a kind of Wire out of it.

another mod uses a 'bluestone' as a secondary redstone, the name probably confused here, what this is discussing is an aqueduct/Archimedes screw type affair to simply move water

Seriously? Who Wolfin' cares if a random mod uses Bluestone as a secondary Redstone? Anyway, I can't see how you linked this to an Archimede's screw, but the Aquaduct seems good enough to me if that's what floats your boat...

I already posted Bluestone wire at one of my threads. My Bluestone, Yellowstone, and Greenstone would conduct electricity along with Redstone, and your Bluestone will conduct water.
The concept behind this idea (Being able to conduct water in an easily controlled manner and harnessing it for use.) is good.
But your execution... You've basically recreated redstone, except more awkward and less user-friendly. And using lapis lazuli is... well, it's just weird. What, because both lapis and water are blue they automatically work together?
There have been suggestions in the past for including pipes, pumps, and what-have-you, usually made out of copper. They were much more sensible and sensical.

Why is it that the only people that the Suggestions forum attracts are the ones it needs the least? By that, I mean unimaginative people. And by unimaginative people, I mean you. Congratulations you, you invented a secondary redstone called Bluestone. Really? Sorry, I just can't take that in. Right now I am literally going outside to laugh my head off and attempt to put it back on.

I used Lapis because it is probably th most useless Ore ever seen by a human. And that's saying alot, because the Dwarves have named a few...
Anyway, RPG jokes aside - I just can't believe some people chose Copper. Really? Adding a new Ore for pipelines, and even more, making it a metal? Copper goes green as it rusts. Why not use gold, that doesn't rust at all, and that we already have in the game?
Lapis, however, is already in the game too, isn't a metal, therefore doesn't rust, yes, it's blue too, just another way that it fits, although not majorly, and is almost completely useless except for, as I think I might have said in the OP, only used for making two textures of Blue Block.
What I meant was this would be good for moving water uphill and such. I meant I don't think we need water powered pistons and dispensers, as redstone is much more common than lapis, and already does that. I support the idea of pipes and ferry boats though.
Okay, I understand - thanks for your feedback. And also, I may have gone a bit too far with the Bluestone Utilities thing.
Following this idea, I come up with two ideas.
First off, I think it would be much easier to just replace lapis lazuli with bluestone. The main reason lapis lazuli is useless is because it is useless in real life. If they invent a fantasy material, they can give it fantasy uses (à la redstone). Obviously, it would keep its dye properties as well.
Secondly, there should be a "pressure sensor". It basically detects bluestone power (I'm kind of assuming that things can be bluestone powered, like they can be redstone powered) and converts it into redstone power.
Thankyou, you're my best friend!!! I
I like the idea of replacing Lapis completely with Bluestone. That is a good idea. Better than any I've heard so far. Thankyou yet again.
But the Pressure Sensor does exactly what the Water Wheel already hypothetically does. And, yes, some utilities can be powered by Bluestone, I listed some of them above. Sorry if I'm being rude, but did you actually read through my entire post?
Also, if I get enough supporters, I might steal your sig and use it as a support banner XD jk
Anyway. I plus oned that reply. Thankyou again.
Does anyone else have any feedback?
Sorry, I've learnt now that bumping is bad, so;
How about you could take Water with a Bucket or Glass Bottle from Charged Bluestone? If I get any positive replies, I'll implement it into the OP.
