How about you could brew a fairly expensive/ complex potion or throwing potion, that you could throw at passive mobs and tamed wolves.
The effect of the potion would be that it would make the mob look "infected", and after a random amount of time (5-15 seconds?) it would become feral. All feral mobs would attack any creatures around them, doing damage equivilant to a puppy bite. This includes sheep, chickens, etc. Anything bitten by an infected animal would become infected itself, and would become feral in a random amount of time (5-15 seconds?). If the attacked mob survives until it becomes feral, the attacker will stop. Feral mobs would not attack other feral mobs once they become feral. Feral mobs would have no drops.
So the infection would spread...
What do you think? This would be a great way to sabatoge your enemies food supply in smp.
hmm, it should not spread, first of all. it could ruin entire servers.

if i behave weird in my post; it's not that i am weird actually. I like to pretend being weird just for the satisfaction of me and to make the community feel more normal. herpy herpy derp. btw, comic sans.
i don't think this is a good idea. like some of the above posters said, it's far to dangerous and would be used for griefing. I run a server, and on that server I have a very large animal farm. If one of those potions were thrown at the farm i would have to put down close to one hundred animals. And i would have to quarantine that virus.
remember griefing = bad
Me: *Feeding sheeps with wheat* Dont worry! Everysheep will get one!
*All sheep in pen surrounds me*
Griefer: Trololololol *Throws potion at the sheeps*
Me: Wait! Why are my sheeps biting me!? NO! NO!!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
*Creapus was slain by sheep*

[My Suggestion] Safes/ Locked Chests http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/881982-a-safe-vault-a-balanced-approach/
It'd be more used as a griefer tool than a useful potion. Toss one at a farm and whoever owns it is screwed.

Exactly the point! Also, I forgot to say, the passive mobs would attack anything *including players*. Maybe they would have red eyes...

Then you're missing the point:
Throwing at farms = Griefing
Griefing = Bad
Therefore, Throwing at farms = Bad
