After awhile of playing around in the desert, I would notice that when it rained in other biomes it would darken the sky, and darken the sky over the desert; rain in the other biomes, then stay dry in the desert. Which made it too plain.
Later, I thought: "Why not add a weather effect to the desert?"
Then it hit me! Why not make it so when it rains/snows in the other biomes, it makes a sandstorm in the desert! We already have new blocks for it, time to add a bit more to it! Maybe it could blow sand blocks around too, more or less just drop new sand blocks instead of blowing around original ones.
Desert storm!? You're saying you want to fight terrorists in Minecraft!?

Could work, maybe add some more detail.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
That would require confusing work with entities, and be a nuisance to the player. Suffocation is one of the most annoying ways to die in Minecraft.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, it's also one of the most annoying ways to die in real life, I guess.
