This idea was probably suggested ina way, but my idea is to make a carving knife. This knife could be used for three things, slicing bread, chiseling in wood, and making jack-o-lanterns.
For slicing bread, just place bread and the knife in a crafting table or inventory crafting grid to make 8 slices of bread. Each slice could be eaten seperately and heal 1 heart. You could even make french toast with egg and milk.
For carving wood, you would simply right-click on some bark, and you can write on each pixel. When you remove enough bark, you can get bark chips, which in a crafting table, can be used to make mulch, which has the same qualities as snow, but is more decorative, and covers tilled soil, making it quicker to grow wheat.
To carve a jack-o-lantern, just place the pumpkin, which would not have an un-lit face, and it would make a jack-o-lantern, which would make pumpkins look nicer, and more sense.
To make a carving knife, place a stick in the lower-leaft hand corner, and an iron diagonal to it, facing top-right.
It could also be used as a weapon.
-Sliced bread shouldn't really heal more than a loaf of bread; thats kinda silly.
-The knife should also be useless as a weapon, you can only hurt mobs so fast, so speed is moot.
-Carving wood is interesting, I wonder how the mechanics of that would work?
