I think it would be more like your friend is cooking and he/she puts TNT in the furnace and it just explodes. You would both have alot of luaghs about it, but it wouldn't do anything other than blow up the furnace.

Actully, it would be alot more. Becuase some pepole are griefers and they will abuse this to destory pepoles houses, plus this is not funny.

Well, again, if it's only the furnace the blows up, the griefing problem is pretty much solved.
The only existing problem is that it's pretty much useless for real pranks, since it's kind of hard to not notice TNT in a furnace. Why does no one address that?

I don't understand how this suggestion has been reduced to having to put gunpowder in a furnace, the furnace instantly blowing up, and doing nothing at all. I think putting TNT in a furnace should explode the furnace and objects around it, not quite as powerful as TNT, but close. You can use this to light TNT if you don't have Flint and Steel or something to power it, you can use it for mining so that you can get a safe distance away and don't have to worry about the TNT being affected by gravity, and you can use it to explode stuff without it looking too obvious.

Actually, With the regrowing of wool, Its very useful.
And, back on topic:
It would be a huge griefing tool. But, it would still be fun!
(I don't know how many times I've placed random items in the furnace to put them somewhere other then there. This would just be a disaster)

You're implying the only way something is fun or useful is if it destroys everything.
Why do you have TNT, but not Flint and Steel? That's simply poor planning. No, I don't care if you're underground or whatever, I find more than enough gravel to light hundreds of TNT blocks.
The original suggestion was that it explodes instantly, don't you read? It wasn't introduced recently, it wasn't "reduced" to it.
the Furnace immediately explodes.
Safe distance away? Redstone. "But what if I don't have redstone?" Well, congrats, Double Tap up and get the hell out of there. Frankly I do that even if I have redstone, it's cheaper and more effective.
Don't want it to fall? How about placing it on a block? There isn't really an explanation for you to need to explode a TNT block in mid air like that, unless you're really entertained by that.
You want to disguise TNT? What on earth for? Furnaces aren't activated by redstone, so you can't use them in adventure maps. The only logical explanation is that you want to grief someones house. Which in that case, you should probably leave now.

Ok, I can understand all your points, and now I can agree with what you're saying. However, I would like to say that I am not a griefer in any way. I respect and love creativity, and I believe there is no benefit to ruining someone else's dreams. I often think about how things can be used creatively, like in adventure maps or complex machines, and I do admit that this sometimes distracts me from how things can be used destructively.
