Ever wondered why eating a whole chicken can still leave you hungry? Because you eat very messily! But you shall no longer, with tables. Crafting should be wood pressure plate over fences (I know, original). The advantage of tables is, it allows ALL foods to be able to be eaten like cakes, making it go a lot longer. By right-clicking on the table with food (cooked steak, chicken, pork, and fish, mushroom stew, bread, melon blocks, and apples) it places the food as a block, allowing you to eat it as slices, or, in chicken's case, maybe take a leg, or with stew, the level in the bowl goes down (when empty, it drops a bowl item); placing a cake on the table doesn't affect it, it still behaves the same.
Ever locked in your house, in the middle of the night, and you can't sleep because there are monsters nearby, but don't want to stand and lose hunger? Well, take a seat. By right-clicking on a chair, you sit on it, and your hunger won't go down. It can be crafted be placing wood stairs, with signs on the side, and fences underneath.
Also, I would like flower pots. They can be crafted by placing a flower, red or yellow, or fern, over dirt, with planks around it like a bowl. It creates a flower pot, with the corresponding plant in it.
All of these blocks only take up one block when placed.
Thank you for your time to read this. Your opinion is much appreciated, as long as it's not stupid :P.

"Oh, yeah? Well, can you fuse two diamonds into a sword in real life?"
The table I do not like. There is no replacement for cake.
The chair I like. Fits well and adds a "mini bed"
The flower pot I like. Very pretty, though I just use a cauldron with a fence on top, and leaves on top of the fence.

Well cake will work without a table, while the other foods won't. Their full regain value shouldn't exceed that of the cake, thought. It is just because you should be better able to enjoy your food when you're home than when you are running from monsters, no?
Well, I'm glad you liked the others, thanks for the support.

You lose no hunger if standing still anyway. So chairs with a sitting animation would be good for machinima and servers only.
Tables would only be good for displaying food. Again, machinima and servers only.
Flower pots, look above for answer.
Oh wait! There is!
Well, there's nothing wrong with aesthetics, is there?
