Universally:
-A 28-day "year", each with 7-day "seasons"
-Spring>Summer>Autumn>Winter, as in real life. Just to point out obvious things.
-Summer experiences slightly longer days and shorter nights, vice/versa for Winter.
-Spring and Autumn experience normal day/night times.
-Increased rain in spring
Different things going on for each biome in seasons.
Plains, Hills, Forest, Mountain:
-Snow replaces rain during winter
-Leaves on trees (Oak and Spruce) turn brownish during autumn
-some plants (not trees) may die in autumn
-increased plant growth in spring
Taiga, Tundra:
-Slight melting of snow and ice in spring, fairly common in summer
-again, plants die off some in autumn, grow a bit in spring
-Rain replaces snow in summer (?)
Marsh, Jungle, Desert, Mushroom Biome:
-Unchanged
More than anything else, this is all just because I think it'd make the world a bit more alive-- I think it'd be fun to see some variance in the temperate biomes. Like in real life-- The really arid, humid, cold and/or hot climates don't see as much change through the year compared to temperate zones. The desert stays warm and dry, the jungles stay wet and sticky, and the permafrost stays perma-frosted. But temperate zones get hot summers, crunchy autumns, white winters, and rainy springs.
And then, just from a personal point of view, building a town I wanna actually play in-- Say I find an ideal location, on a field, surrounded by mountains, with a river going through it, etc. like a good place to found a settlement in real life, it'd be interesting to see it in snow every once in a while without having to re-do it in a different biome.
I like the idea, but it would have to a option when creating the world (like generate structures on/off) because snow can get really annoying. But i would definitely have a world with seasons if I could.
This is actually a mod, but I can't find the 1.2.4 download so it won't work.
But yeah, Mojang should buy/ask for permission to use popular mods, like the Aether mod.
