The way this AI works is that it learns from everyone who talks to it.
My idea is this: What if there was an AI made for minecraft that learnt speech and behaviour from a single player? And there was an AI for every player?
So it would learn behaviour as you played single player, speech as you played multiplayer or as you talked to a player character, and the resulting AI would use your skin.
The result would be a world option of allowing any or certain players to appear in you world, and the ability to spawn players in creative. AIs with not enough information to be called intelligent will not be available.
Of course, the option to not form the AI as you played would be good for those discussing passwords, or who just don't want what they are doing in their AI.
The fun bit is you can build with your friends while they're offline, and slay many clones of your enemies!
This would also be an incentive for people to be awesome.
So minecrafters would get a whole lot cooler.
I like the idea about having friends on single player, but not on the multi-player/cloning thing. That part's creepy. But having NPC Villager buddies would be awesome! PARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
Well, the game has no challenge once you progress far enough, so griefers would make it harder. But not impossible, since they would have less intelligence, being an AI.

Stop right there. Right at this point:

If this is so, you're doing it very wrong. The game is only as fun as you make it. There is no such thing as a point where challenges cease to exist. It really annoys me to see people say this, because what they're really saying is "I don't know what to make anymore"
Some form of AI, probably in the form of villager quests, would be better, but it really annoys me to see "There is no challenge"
