1. Make them look scarier. Like have some blood in there texture. Would scare new players away.
2. Have them infect villagers if attacked and survived. Villagers will turn into zombies a few seconds later.
3. Have zombies attack cows, like they are eating them for food.
4. I know this will be odd, but in every zombie media and anything zombie related they never burn in daylight. They should spawn not as common but not burn in daylight.
5. When in a clear line of sight, they should sprint at the player.
What do you think? Do you agree or disagree with any of the ideas here?
1. Notch wants no blood in the default TP. That's why pigmen have green blood. Use your own Texture Pack if you want that.
2. This could work, but it could get annoying to repopulate villages
3. That would make getting a reliable source of food stupidly hard, because if you didn't round up the cows on the first night, they'd all get killed, and no cows.
4. I don't like this. I think zombies seeking out shade is enough. They burn because they're "evil" and fear the sun. And the vampire/zombies burned in I Am Legend.
5. I have no problems with this.
Zombies aren't supposed to be that hard. Just plentiful.
minecraft is apparently against having bloody textures for the sake of the kids.
I'm still in favor of a "Scary" mode to play in however.
Yeah, but the thing is zombies don't look like zombies. They just look like green steves. If they don't have blood in the texture atleast make them look a little rotted like zombie pigmen do.

1. Well if no blood, then a little more rotted like I said before.
2. Ok, then how about they only infect villagers like 20% of the time?
3. Put the cows in a fenced off area.
4. Yeah, I don't really care either way.
5. Thank you,
I'm fine with all of that, except number 3. How often do you have wheat and enough fences to make a cow farm before the first night? It wouldn't be a problem except with the new passive spawn mechanics, you'd have to leave the chunks that you'd had loaded before in order to find cows.
Yes, zombies may sprint! I don't agree whit them not burning or attacking cows, i prefer them to attack endermen, because they are from another dimension or something like that. I will be great if a Nether portal attracts them, like trying to get their souls back.

Thats a great idea also. Would they be able to travel into the nether?
Bah, all you Dawn of the Dead 2000 people forget: ZOMBIES DON'T RUN! I do actually prefer them slow, they are the "easy" monster of the game, as opposed to Skeletons and Spiders being medium, and Spider Jockeys and Creepers being hard. Endermen are passive/aggressive, so they're sort of at either extreme.
=P
Anyways, the ACTUAL reason for the lack of blood is actually because of US, the players. Originally, zombie pigmen had red blood, but there was an overwhelming response by the community indicating that they preferred the non-conformist "gore" of Minecraft. That is, people like Minecraft to remain an Indie game.
Also, why the hell would you want to scare new players away? it is because of new players that we have so much continued growth by Notch and Jeb. If there wasn't enough interest, they wouldn't have been able to -afford- to grow the way they have. They've had so much help from the -community- as far as ideas and a sounding board, that we should be grateful for every new player.
As for burning in daylight, then by your logic, so should skeletons. Not burn, that is. Do you really want monsters to be persistent? That would take away the fun just because you'd never catch a break to just -build-.

1. Zombies would only run if they had a straight line to you.
2. So make them look rotted at least.
3. Because "hardcore gamers" would take the game more seriously if it was scary.

All of them sound good except for number two. If you want blood, get a texture pack (I use Painterly Pack, which has some decent zombie textures)
I like the sprint idea, but in groups that would make them unstoppable. Try fighting zombie pig men on the survival map Sky Block. They run at you, and it's almost impossible defeating all of them even with enchanted diamond gear.
