Here's a good'n for Mojang! We should have the ability to place blocks on a diagonal from a block, based on where we're looking, by holding down a modifying key. For example: When building a staircase we often have to place blocks beside the stairs to place the next level of stairs. My idea is that we'd look at the [top] edge of the stairs, and we'd hold down, say, Alt key and right click to place the block, and it would automatically place the stairs at the diagonal (1 up and 1 ahead) so that it would eliminate the need to place "support blocks" that are later removed. It would also work looking at the bottom of a brick, to place a block diagonally underneath it.
I believe this would make a lot of building much easier, and would not be a challenge to implement, or feel out of place.

Support!
Nice thought, though.
Disagree!
