I think when we write suggestions we often get married to specific forms of ideas, rather than focusing on the underlying gameplay function.
For example, diamonds aren't diamonds. They're a rare resource useful in various high quality recipes. If they were emeralds, or mithril ingots, or zarkonium, they could do the same thing in terms of game function. "Diamond" is just the attractive packaging for the idea of RARE RESOURCE MOSTLY USEFUL IN CREATING DURABLE/EFFECTIVE EQUIPMENT.
So let's suggest FUNCTIONS that you'd like to see in Minecraft. Not forms. So if you want a ranged weapon that flies straight instead of arcing for instance, don't say "Crossbow". Say "Ranged weapon that flies straight"
Let's try to brainstorm as many form free, purely function based ideas here as possible. In general, it's usually better to think of the function first then think of an attractive form for it. There are rare exceptions where you might think of something cool and then come up with a function for it, but the function is the more important aspect by far.
Suggest your ideas here, both old and new, but with all references to form stripped away. Don't give us the slightest clue what you think the form should be. Then we can judge whether the underlying function would improve the game or not.
Also, feel free to go into detail as to how the item would integrate into gameplay. What benefits/dangers/activities it would add. How easy it would be to acquire, etc. Any description of function is better than none, but if you can highly specific it's better.
Function: Increased Block mobility. Rotations, Arches, all around more mobility than pistons.
Form: Perhaps some kind of long arm that can push blocks around it's axis in a circle. A pulley system, or even a pressurized Piston that shoots a block up into the air.

Although you're not supposed to mention form, I think that "form" you added is really just a more detailed description of function, so it's a good addition. If it's just a machine description that's fine, since you're really just doing your best to explain how it might work.
The only thing I want to avoid is if you had described that "Gold Rotator Claws" or "Spider-Silk Pulleys!" or something like that.
Nobody should be afraid to describe a little bit of form, if it's necessary to make it clear what you're trying to achieve. For example, I can say "A new melee weapon that does X" rather than making it super abstract and saying "A method for damage increase, vis a vis a handheld tool item, capable of X" Saying something is a "melee weapon" isn't the probablem, it's saying "HALBERDS" or "MORNINGSTARS". So there's nothing wrong with saying "A redstone powered machine that can push blocks around its axis in a circle" as the function
Biome Specific Particles in the air
Jungle would have moisture, Snow would have frost, Desert would have sand in wind, ocean would have splashed water etc.
Hm, could be cool. It should be part of the weather though, created by occasional windy conditions, rather than being a constant thing.

(suggestion I'm currently thinking about)

By the way, what's mithril?
It's a fictional metal in Lord of the Rings that's super malleable, super strong, and super rare, mostly seen in ancient priceless arms and armor.
