So... I'll be quick as possible with this. Idea #2 is quite a read....
Here are two ideas that I've had for awhile now. I don't think they'd change Minecraft in any MAJOR way, but it'd be fun and doable.
Here I go...
Idea #1: Flying Zombie Pigmen: They are.... flying Zombie pigmen, it'd make the Nether fun and give the ground ZPM something to fight the Ghasts whenever they hit one another. This would also tie into my second idea in the sense that you can either ally with them are be foes. Also, they'd drop their wings so you can fly... that MAY BE an actually fun and nice way to fly around in Minecraft other than airplanes and rockets. The wings could have durability for however many 1000 blocks you fly it deteriorates in some fraction, you can be shot down by skeletons and stuff.
What do you think? Ideas? Improvements? CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Idea #2: WARNING: Long read. Seems complicated yes, but read it a few times and it's simple editing and giving purpose and a few re-writing of code... Mojang should do this if they want to keep a majority of their people happy... idk that's just me.
Also - - - - - MCD = Minecraft Days
- GO TO THE BOTTOM FOR A SUMMARY, READ ALL OF THIS FOR DETAILS-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think most everyone would agree when I say that Villagers need a use. A completely new model. Purpose and a nice way to change the game without overdoing it.
Now what I'm thinking that they could do is.... ( Let me put this in a list so it's easier to read and understand)
Village: 5 homes MINIMUM - 12 homes MAX - A 100 bock RADIUS, yes radius, it may not be a perfect circle in Minecraft but it still works.
At 12 homes they're one step away from advancing to the next level of Town.
Steps to go to town: They need at least 2 Blacksmiths, 1 Merchant, Hunters, Adventurers, a village leader - village leader would have 12 hearts, take 3 hearts hit, and either have a Bow or a Bone to give the idea that they're "primitive" - They'd need at least 20 other villagers MAX to step up to Town.
Now, when they're making the transition into Town, they won't automatically go BINK NEW TOWN ... no. The way things will work is their workers will start clearing out land, chopping trees down, making a well, yadda yadda yadda, and it should take them 20-25 Minecraft days to finish their town depending on a lot of things.
Also, just a little tid-bit, you can't TRADE with Merchants you can only BUY from them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Town: 12 homes MINIMUM - 22 homes MAX - Boundaries increase to 150 block radius
Village Leader gets an upgrade in - Armor - Weaponry - Guards (Iron Golems) - Shelter - New title --> Mayor
More; Merchants, Blacksmith's, Hunters, Adventurers would start popping up.
More homes start turning into different sections of the Town, kind of like cliques. One spot would be where the Hunters live, another for the Merchants (maybe a bizarre), a hall for the Adventurers
An upgraded well and a different improvement in homes. You can now TRADE with merchants instead of just buying from them. Guards will start popping up near the Mayor's building. Guards patrol the "streets" of the town.
To step up to City, they'll need to have been a Town for at least 100 Minecraft days and spend 45 MCD (Minecraft Days) building to City. They need at MINIMUM 30 citizens - MAXIMUM 50 citizens anymore and they start killing some off to keep the numbers even.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
City: 20 homes MINIMUM - 30 homes MAX - Boundaries increase to 250 block radius
Mayor upgrades to Ruler - Upgrade in weaponry - armor - Guards get reinforced by 2-4 village guards following it - Ruler's building gets reinforced and upgraded - By now they have Merchants Bizarre - 10 BS - Hunters Lodge - Adventurer's Hall if they didn't build on in Town stage - Open field for Farmers and livestock
By now they've got all of this, and now starts the fun, one villager will be the odd one out and by this I mean, he will have either a red or blue shirt ( I'll tell you why only R OR B later) and begin strolling the town in an odd manner... not following the pathways, stalking some villagers, and stealing weapons, his home should have multiple chests and be a bit bigger than most others.
This character will have the title of Rebel, he will stroll around town almost all day and rarely go into his home rain or shine, day or night. The only time he'll go in his home is when he's stolen something or he's recruited.
Recruiting stage for the Rebel: This character will stalk a villager of his choosing, talk to him, and either they accept or deny. If after this deal was denied and the villager DECIDES to tell the Guards, the Rebel will kill him at night.
The Rebellion: This stage will start when the Rebel has gotten other homes to get a red or blue banner (maybe a piece of wool on the top of their home) 5 homes MINIMUM - 10 homes MAX
THE ATTACK: When the Rebel has MAX amount of others he will get a crown... if he's still in the City and the guards haven't either pursued or killed him, then he's a Rebel Leader. When he's out of the City successful in his mission, he will jumpstart the new stage to CASTLE CITY.
The Mission: Rebel leader and Followers will at night, try to invade the Ruler's Shelter guarded by Guards and Guard Reinforcements and attempt to kill the Ruler. If successful... it'll take about 7 MCD to conquer the City and make it his own and a majority of the villagers will join that side. Others will leave the City and begin IMMEDIATELY on building a CASTLE CITY. If failure occurs, the Rebel Leader and what's left of his Followers will get chased out of the City limits, and begin IMMEDIATELY on Castle City for THE WAR
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Castle City & THE WAR
Ruler goes to King
Castle City: Within a 1000 block RANGE no other Castle City except for the one already built will be built within those limits, this is to keep from seeing a CC and seeing a thousand others built very closeby. Within a 100 block range will be the opposing Castle City and ONLY that one.
Cast City Traits: 350- 400 block radius - THE WAR has been started once the opposing side has finished building - It should take about 80-90 MCD to finish this Castle City, workers will not be bothered by other mobs, any hostility towards them and the already upgraded Guards and Guard Reinforcements will IMMEDIATELY take out the target and keep that area safe for a few MCD, maybe 2 or 3. Lockdown will be commenced... meaning no trade, and constant patrolling of Guards, Villagers and Followers will stay in home until Lockdown has stopped. - UPGRADES IN FARMING AND RESOURCE GATHERING - ARMY BUILDING COMMENCES
Lockdown: If you didn't read it already, basically, it's Villagers and Followers will not come out until the Cast City WALLS have been finished.
[ QUICK NOTE: The Cast City has LIMITS OF 700-800 blocks that's only to give room for the Army to fight in, that does not mean the CC walls will be that huge, the CC Walls will only be about a 60-120 block radius. ]
The Army & THE WAR
---------------------------------------------
Once City Castle has been built they will stop Lockdown, things can go back to being City... the only difference is an increase in Guards, Saftey, and The Army building, occasionally there will be the opposing CC's squad of attackers these attackers will be called Scouting Parties.
Iron Golems will have one new weapon added to their arsenal: Crossbow Hand... seeing as they're already made of Iron, and Minecraft has enchanting and alchemy and all this other MAGICAL crap, why not add to it and give them the ability to shoot Iron bolts out of their palms.... this ability will only be available when CC is done, safe, and easy to live in.
The Army: Inside the CC Walls, there will be one spot that is marked off as Training and Recruiting arena.... yes, an arena where this CC will get it's Army trained and ready for The Conquering. Arena - Villagers with iron armor, iron swords and bows strapped to their backs... Iron Golems with targets to practice their special ability and different classes of The Army.. such as Archer ( He's an archer... guess what he does) The Knight ( He rides into battle on pigs with iron sword) - The Demo ( He carries TNT to blow up the opposing CC walls and other buildings... this charater is in the front lines for The Conquering, their job simple: blow up walls and be combat support)
Once The Army has been finished this should take about 10-20 MCD to complete. On the outside of the walls for 2-3 MCD you will see Iron Golems, Archers, Knights, Demo's ( only about 10-20 demos) they will get into formation...
Formation: Demos in front, Iron Golems behind the Knights, Archers in back so..... Demos 1st - Knights 2nd - IG's 3rd - Archers 4th
The Conquering... I can assume it doesn't take much brain power for you to think of what will go on... after 2-3 MCD of Forming, they will March into battle. Destroying each other until someone wins... other details can be added by you... the reader.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary of Idea #2
-Villagers act like Zombie PIgmen when you attack them
- Village goes to Town
-Town goes to City
-City goes to Castle City
Each upgrade requires a certain amount of things to go onto the next.
When they're at Castle City stage, they will go into THE WAR until one side CONQUERS the other... in between is really just filler to make things interesting.
Each time they go to different stage, different things will get different upgrades, their will or should be new roles... such as Hunter who hunts animals or herds them - Merchant who you can trade things with - Adventurer's who kill hostile mobs and make shelters - IG's will serve as they do now, but sooner in the stage they get a special ability.
Village Leader goes to Mayor
Mayor goes to Ruler
Ruler goes to King
All of this, is to give purpose and fun to Minecraft.. you can either side with one side or be killing both. You can walk right into the middle of everything and get shot... or attacked or w/e
You can finish the job for one side and kill the King, but that will not be an easy task... or at least it shouldn't be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SO I KNOW #2 WAS A LONG READ, BUT I TOLD YOU IN THE BEGINNING TO GO DOWN HERE FOR A SUMMARY
ANYWHO..... I've given this a lot of thought, and more, but I didn't want to make an essay out of this idea....
Questions? Comments? Additions? CONSTRUCTIVE Criticism? Something not negative...?
If you're good with mods someone should try to makes this, or give this idea straight to Jeb!
(Thanks for your time and I've got WAY more ideas... such as...
When the get to CityCastle stage, they can enter the Nether accompanied with IG's and build a city in The Nether. They could either make friends with the Zombie Pigmen or enemies...)
The rest sounds like a Civilization sort of deal or something. Definitely mod territory (and, if I'm not mistaken, various mods exist to that sort of end).
full support it would give villages a purpose besides a temporary shelter when you accidental stay out at night! and it would make minecraft a bit more dynamic instead of a still frame to build on.

The idea of all of this, is to not make it fancy but not make it boring, it's to give Minecraft some life and energy to the game. Flying zombie pigmen would add FUN and challenge and life to the Nether... this whole village system, would be interesting to watch...
And a mod has a way of overdoing it, with crappy HUD updates and how much money something has and blah blah blah, how much % some building is going to be complete... it's just a mess, if Mojang did it, I would expect it to be simple, fun, easy to follow.
I'm not asking for like... dragons and mazes in dungeons and insane updates that change the way of MC.... I'm just simply adding additions to what's already been made, re-writing and improving.

thank you! I'm not asking for some shiny, new update... just upgrading, and to add LIFE and energy to MC. Seeing these Villagers just blindly walking around, stomping on their crops, not doing anything, hiding, no way to defend, no life, no fun, no entertainment.
I always think people try to super add to one concept in their suggestions. It's the little things, like one new block that make minecraft better.
As for the towns, I think this would be best as a mod.

You better watch closely, or these words just might turn into a juggling squirrel...
No, that would border on stupidity, I'm just asking for some entertainment. When you hit a ZPM they all gang up on you, you can run, but if you hit them and they've got air force around it's hell and a challenge to get out! unless you want uber easy, just play on peaceful...
Also, it'd give a nice, fun way to fly around maybe.

Why don't we just make the ghasts take full focus on killing you when you hurt a ZPM, instead of just wandering and just takin potshots at you.
