This has probably been thrown around a number of times before, but I think a physics based mode would definitely make for an interesting change. I mean hardcore mode is one thing, being blown to smithereens never to see your dirt hut again, but think about building an amazing elaborate castle, and then a creeper goes off, and half of the structure topples to the ground while you cry in agony over more than just a small section of annoyance being destroyed. Absolutely priceless.
Yeah, but honestly, I think that Minecraft should stay physics-less, even if it would be an entirely different mode. Having little physics is one of Minecrafts more unique qualities.
@AmberK Yeah, I know it would definitely create a need for an engine overhaul just from the sheer amount of work the game would have to process depending on the structure that demises, and plus punching trees would also be a much riskier business! I guess this would be more of an interesting hypothesis than a seriously legitimate setting. In fact, the only reason this idea even came to me was during the construction of a structure I'm currently working on. I just thought it would be epic to see it topple like a house of cards xD

Once upon a time, there was a plugin that enabled gravity to be switched on and off for sand/gravel. I built a giant sand globe in the sky then switched gravity on. And it was epic to see it crumble.

Just give every block gravity like TNT. Stays put until acted on then falls.
If it was like that, you could never build. Your roof would collapse. Something closer to TNT's gravity mechanic would work better.
Well of course there would have to be an exception for something like that. Maybe I'm just looking too much into it
