I was just wondering if there's any chance that you could render the whole world right after it's generated? I know it would take alot of your storage, but if there was an opinion where you could choose how much of the world you wanted pre-rendered, like, you want the all the block in like a 50.000 blocks radius pre-rendered, so that the game may run ALOT faster?
I can't really explain further.. But I think this should be possible in a future update. (Please correct me if I'm wrong, I only have a little over-average basic computer knowledge, but I'm learning for each day that passes.)
But, I really hope you get my point, it's like on the xbox 360 and PS3 were you can "install" the game on your console, so that you can play it with less loading and stuff.
You mean on the 360 and PS3 where you HAVE to install the games? No thanks. I would hate to have to render everything before playing. Do you know how large a Minecraft world is, on the horizontal plane alone? Add to that the vertical area that needs generating and you'd be waiting forever for the whole to render. Plus if the whole were rendered at once, I doubt any machine on this Earth could survive. That's why the world renders in chunks, you know.
You do know you can just turn down the render distance to make it run faster, right?
Yeah, I know. But I mean, if you had the time, you could've pre-rendered a small portion of the world, just what you think you'll need. And the rest could've been rendered as you progress throughout the game.
I have a 360 and I've never been forced to install my games. However, I meant this as an option, not forcing you to pre-render, but I mean those that hardly can play because of the huge amount of rendering, they could find this useful.
But it's quite strange, though. My PC is a quite good, (keep in mind, laptop standars)
4 GB RAM - (I'm thinking of upgrading to 8 GB)
i7 2.1GHz that goes up to 2.9GHz (8 CPU's)
GEFORCE GT 540M 1GB
I can run Portal 2 on High settings almost without lag.

Sorry if this was confusing in any ways.. ^-^'

Seems unnecessary to me but then my computer runs it fine. An option couldn't hurt.
However, I am going to buy a stationary when I begin at High School. c:
