I understand that some people don't like people seeing the seeds of their world, but it should also be understood that some people would like to have people able to see the world seed. I run a server, and I honestly don't give a damn if someone plays with a world similar to mine in single player, and since my server is a creative server, I fully encourage people to use any means at their disposal to find a good spot for a project. But now I am forced to have this useful information redacted from the debug screen. Shouldn't it be an option to show the seed?
debateable, I can see why it was pulled just search " youtube Minecraft seed " and you can plainly see where this is exploited a lot. on the other hand if a server owner wants to share .... meanwhile I suppose you could post it on a sign or somesuch?

I run a private server for only my brother and I, and I have to agree with you. It's not like some random stranger could come into my whitelisted server that's not port-forwarded (it uses local connection) then steal the seed, and my brother and I want to be able to see our own survival world's seed.
Couldn't you just tell people the seed?
It's in the server options, just copy-paste it into the chatbar. Problem solved.
Really? I thought that part of the options was blank! Did the update change it to automatically put the world seed in there, or will it still be blank? What bugs me the most is that I, the admin, can't see the seed of my own world. For me, it's not really an issue of telling other people the seed.

I checked my server options, and the seed isn't there! How am I supposed to find the seed of my own world?!

Oh, did you randomly generate it?
I think there are a few extractors around the interwebz. I believe I've used http://seedscope.net/ before and it's worked very well. It's even linked on the Wiki.
