I think that it would be awesome if there was a little bit of added predictability to the weather patterns. The snow would be there for, say, 50 mc days, and the same amount of time for the other seasons. That way we could time out the farming routines to fit the 50-100 days that there would be for a season. Also, it would be cool if the animal populations would be affected by the weather, that way we would be having to protect our food and helpers.
Back to the farming. When we are farming we should have to create a vault (pretty much) to hold the food and supplies to get through the winter. The animals, namely the pigs and cows, should be able to eat the wheat when domesticated. This should make the game more challenging.
For the reactions on the other plants and blocks: minecart tracks should be rendered unsusable by snow unless cleared or having some sort of cover. The flowers should be taken down into seeds and should be allowed to either be replanted or, if not picked up by the player, should regrow in the spot it was in before; which brings me to the other thing about the flowers: they should be able to grow like wheat with the same properties that the wheat needs to grow, except the water needs to be there constantly. On the trees, the leaves should turn to sticks, but should regrow in the spring just like the flowers. The cobblestone should become mossy when any "watery" substance touches it for an extended period of time.
Glass should be stained by the rain after say 20 sets of rain, and should be able to be cleaned by wool and should turn the wool another color. Fences and other items made out of wooden planks should be damaged by the rain, slightly.
An idea for a new item would be plaster for walls inside and out of a house or building and should be created by mixing water and clay then putting into the furnace for about 10 seconds. You should be able to color them, like you would with wool, after you fire the plaster. There should also be a sort of hanging cart type of device. Along with the current carts we should be able to control how fast the carts go and should be able to connect more than one cart together. The current power of the coal in the carts should be stronger than it is now so we can get up hills for once.
Thats about it for now. Hope y'all like the ideas!
Okay. I'll admit that the cleaning of the glass and all that jazz would be a bit annoying and boring to do all the time. And the mossycobble-water stuff would suck to have to keep clean and everything. The coal would get both us and the storage carts up hills. After a while the plaster will help a LOT with changing the current path of homes, castles, etc..
Now to deal with the hanging carts. What I mean is that the carts should be like a hanging tram. This would allow for the ability to travel over lava pits. And hopefully we don't get stuck while hanging over the lava. As an afterthought, I think that minecarts should be able to be connected together and that there should be a lever on the top of the powered minecart so that when we want to go in a certain direction, we can.
This is actually a very plausible idea that is not overly demanding to program into the game and adds a need to protect your valuable crops into the game. The glass idea was a nice touch. And the plaster? ABSOPOSITIVOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
There should be different things in each season which help or hinder you; like in Spring, crops would grow 1.5x as fast and the trees would be in bloom, with flowers growing out of them(this would never happen in another season unless you terraform the place to your needs) and trees grow 1.5x as big. Babby animals will spawn in the wild without outside help. But, you would have to deal with increased spawning of monsters since the new heat would send the monsters out of their plausible dens to attack you with new-found strength. In the Summer, you will find that the heat of the harsh sun will blind you temporarily if you stare at it; the heat will also give you a chance of finding animal drops being already cooked(not realistic, but this is Minecraft, a game where you can stop lava flow with a pile of dirt and break rock with gold). In the mid Summer, you will find that the days are 1.5x longer and less monsters spawn than the Spring, because the increased daytime will make the mobs fear ever leaving caves.
I like the idea as well. But I do think that cleaning the glass could become a bit tedious and more of a chore than fun.
Otherwise, I believe the seasons would be enjoyable, a pleasant change to the currently static biomes.
Its also worth noting that in Tundra it is mostly snow year round, but there is a brief summer where the snow melts and fields of grass and flowers bloom. That would be a nice sight.
not too sure bot alot of this idea but i do approve of the seasons idea.
-the vault not really sure that this would be such a great idea. mainly because it would be an unnecessary thing youd have to build, and to make it it would have to be made out of iron or stone or something similar. also as for food being scarcer in winter what would you do say you spawned where it was winter. such as a tundra or taiga biome. then you'd have trouble getting started.
-flowers needing water to grow would be odd. considering in prairies and jungles and such there are flowers in random places and if they needed water to grow then those places would either be bare or have ugly areas of water near them.
-i think leaves should become yellow in fall and in winter there should be less leaves on the trees to where its noticeable but will still be able to regrow them. now as for the leaves regrowing at all this would add a slight challenge into the coding. because they would have to code it so the trees don't grow after leaves have grown. or youd have a tree that kept growing all year round.
-i completely approve of the mossy cobblestone idea but i think the water should have to be coving the cobble completely or one side should change the side that has water covering it.
-i dont like the idea of rain staining windows to where you have to clean it. or wooden items being damaged by the rain.
the plaster would be an interesting idea and as for hanging carts im not too sure what you mean by that so im not going to comment on it.
theres my opinion on the seasons idea sorry if it sounds kinda negative im not trying to bash your idea im just giving my point of view on the matter.
In the Autumn, your crops will all fall, forcing you to collect them or lose valuable food. The chilling air will cause the trees to burst into several shades of orange and red. All grass will brown and turn into dead saplings, and any very old animals will die and drop rotten flesh(by old animals, I mean animals that have lived for more than 60 MC days). Once the air has killed off the trees, you will find that monsters are starting to spawn before the sun sets, and the days are now 2 1/2 minutes smaller. In the Winter, your life will become a living hell. Monsters can spawn at any time, you cannot plant crops, and trees are all but rotting husks. Good luck trying to find animals, since any animal that you have seen outside will despawn after 30 seconds of you breaking your line of sight with them. However, the silver lining is that the winter will freeze up lakes, trapping water and fish under it making two valuable things ripe for picking. This freezing will also make lakes easy to cross because of ice.
I like this idea, but some of the challenges in it seem a little over-the top: Rotting wood and mossy cobble seem kind of strange with the water, and leaves not growing would be hard to code. The windows also seem tedious to do. However, some of these ideas are cool. I'd love to see this implemented.

If you searched, you'd find that "seasons" has been thought up before. Many times. We don't need seasons, as we already have biomes with distinct "climates" and visuals, and would be a pain in the ass to code anyway.
Also, it would be cool if the animal populations would be affected by the weather, that way we would be having to protect our food and helpers.
Eh... I'd rather not be forced to worry about animals just because Mojang decided to put unneeded seasons in the game.

Isn't that what a chest is for?
The animals, namely the pigs and cows, should be able to eat the wheat when domesticated. This should make the game more challenging.
No. I don't want the animals to be coded so they can eat from my wheat farms whenever they like. How exactly is this "more challenging"?
For the reactions on the other plants and blocks: minecart tracks should be rendered unsusable by snow unless cleared or having some sort of cover.
You're adding a burden to minecarts just for a hint of realism. No thanks.
The flowers should be taken down into seeds
Huh?
and should be allowed to either be replanted or, if not picked up by the player, should regrow in the spot it was in before
Not needed. If you want flowers to be grown back, use Bonemeal.
which brings me to the other thing about the flowers: they should be able to grow like wheat with the same properties that the wheat needs to grow, except the water needs to be there constantly.
Pointless pointless pointless. You're just adding another boring thing that the player needs to keep track of.

The amount of trees in the game will give us more wood than we'll ever need, so we don't need to program the ability for leaves to contain sticks as well. There's no need for trees to grow back their leaves if we more than enough trees in the game AND can plant more trees by using saplings.

Seriously? I don't think window cleaning would be a very fun and popular thing in Minecraft.
Fences and other items made out of wooden planks should be damaged by the rain, slightly.
Yet another boring thing the player needs to monitor. I would like to build my fence and be done with it, rather than having to replace them every single time when they take too much water damage.

I can't really see plaster fitting in Minecraft. You'd be better off suggesting colors for a block that already exists, then to suggest coding plaster in the game.
