What if you make dispensers fire in multiple directions when powered? You could craft little lens/hole-like things that attach to the sides of the dispenser (taking up an extra block of space).
Basically, you put holes on dispensers (to fire out of), and plugs to stop up holes. One hole/plug could go on each side of the block. When you stop up a hole, the hole drops as an item. Similarly, placing a hole on a plug, the plug will drop. I think the holes would have to look different from the base hole (so you would know which one you can't plug up), but maybe not. When powered, the contents of the dispenser would (randomly) pop out of each hole simultaneously. It would work like two (or more) dispensers both firing, but condensed into one block.
I'm too lazy to make a crafting image, but I think crafting for the hole things would be just a diamond shape of iron ingots. The plugs can be like triangles of three wooden planks. (facing down, up, left, or right).
Please, no terribly obvious jokes on the whole "plugging up holes and placing them" part of the idea. Seriously. It's not going to be funny.

This thread is for making a single dispenser fire in multiple directions at the same time.
The other is for making individual dispensers be place-able in different directions.
Do your research.
As far as that little joke bit, I seriously don't want idiots clogging up this thread with "that's what she said" jokes.
