I've been playing minecraft for a long time, and while there are books and bookshelves there isn't a writing function in books. I'd imagine it'd be as easy as implementing something similar to a sign's system but I wouldn't know. I'm Jake Arredondo, the author of Nightmare Syndrome. If Notch were to implement writing in books I'd transfer my entire 107338 word book in to Minecraft form. It would take me a long time but it would be fun and make my server famous. I could also transfer Nightmare Syndrome's predessesors and sequels among my other books. I somehow doubt notch would look to this suggestion and implement it just because of me but we never know.
Hmm, while a think the concpet of reading real world books in minecraft is interesting, I don't know if that's the proper incentive for adding books that one can write in. Adventure maps are rather popular with minecraft though, so books that can be written in would make a great way to tell a story in an adventure map.
Well, we know that Jeb has tried to put this in, he just wasn't sure how to do the GUI. Which makes sense. It'd be difficult to get right.
But I would love it if he was able to do it ^^ Especially if it was able to hold a lot of characters.
Even though it'd be time-consuming as hell i'd like to read proper books in Minecraft [Although, not actual published books. That'd feel like pirating since i'm not paying for it in any way].
