Since the game is called minecraft, I believe there should be more useful ores. So, in my opinion, they should add Cobalt to a game, and what a coincidence to the new game mojang game cobalt! It could be used for weapons and armor, but im not really sure what else it could be used for, but this is the suggestion forums! If you got more ideas, put them down! Bring this into the game!!!
No detail or significant explanation of uses. Please add more details.
There are no significant uses of other mineable blocks in game, for example, Lapiz, it makes sheep blue, thats it??? Cobalt could be used to make blue stained glass, mix it with iron to make cobalt alloys, which are used to make the tools/armor, also to make cobalt blocks!

Other blocks in the game are irrelevant to the quality of your suggestion.
Dye can stain glass if stained glass is implemented. Cobalt would not be necessary.
What use would alloys provide? What stats would tools and armor have? Between which tiers would cobalt armor and tools be? How deep and rare would cobalt be? What would a cobalt block look like?

The game doesn't need a new ore that's only for tools/weapons. Lapis was added in the update when they introduced dyes for wool. There needed to be some way to obtain the blue wool and they added Lapis. Its uses are the same as in real life.
Diamond, iron, and gold are well know minerals. I don't even know what colbat is.
We all probably know what diamond is. Alot of things is made of iron, and probably the majority of the people on earth would know what gold is.
And lapis is stupid.

Cobalt is well known. And gold is rather stupider than lapis. Soft, weak, a hideous yellow color...
But we do not really need more ores either way.

How do we not need more ores??? This game is getting more plain by getting only iron and diamonds as useful tools/armor. Also, you could use the cobalt alloys to make a different type of block like redstone, but its cobalt wiring. It would have a lasting signal of 32 blocks. It would be aligned by 3 in the middle of a crafting table going up. Also, the Cobalt would be found beneath layer 25. It would be as common as gold, and it would have the durability of diamond, but the power of iron. So it is pretty much a buffed version of iron.
the game could use some new ores. some bridges between iron and diamond would be nice. it's boring seeing the same old ores over and over again. and btw saing no new ores is like saying no new mobs.... so nice idea
Even Newer News Flash: No New Ore Since 1.2 ofc people are going to get bored of them! People apparently got bored of tree's because there are trees now bigger then my tower castles. Also, previously stated, I said if you have other suggestions on what they were used for, go ahead and put them down. If your going to be a douche on my post. GTFO.

He's not being a douche, he just wants a new hypothetical ore to have at least 1 interesting use to it. And yes, I'd like a new material or 2 (or 3...) to work with, but each should have some individuality (and I'm fine with cosmetic ores like lapis).

Back onto the topic: I've been looking through cobalt's wikipedia page and am having a hard time coming up with new uses for it.
The use of a blue pigment is already covered by lapis.
Cobalt is often used in batteries, but then again we already have redstone.
Cobalt can also be used as a catalyst for chemical reactions, but how would we make use of that in Minecraft? The only thing I can think of is some kind of catalyst for a souped-up version of TnT...which probably is not even remotely realistic.
Cobalt is also a source of gamma rays, but again, what the heck could we do with that?
Lastly, it is often used in "superalloys" in things such as jet engine turbines. This might have some kind of use as a strong building material and/or tool tier. But that is all I can come up with right now.

So going back on topic, we could also use cobalt for chemo in case you eat to much zombie flesh... Stronger TnT would be fairly cool, but you could easily do an exchange of the lapiz to cobalt, better imo.
I agree new ores should be added but not sure if it should be cobalt. Why cobalt anyways?
Anyways, i know this is irrelevant but maybe silver could be a new ore.
