We have fishing. It is nice. Free food.
But should anything in a gamemode called Survival really be free?
Introducing a new Non Mob danger to the water.
The Piranha is not a Mob, but rather an item and effect.
How do we encounter this Piranha?
You cannot encounter like you encounter most danger.
You find a Piranha by Fishing.
How can we expect one?
You can't. They come onto your fishing pole randomly.
What do they do?
They're nasty little buggers. They deal a half heart of damage for each second you spend with them on your line, and latch onto your Pole, causing you to have to recast several times to collect the Piranha and start fishing again.
After I collect this Piranha, what can I do with it?
You can cook and eat the Piranha, but it will poison your hearts, similar to Spider Eyes.
However, it is a much stronger fish, with more meat, so it heals one and a half more hunger points
than a Regular cooked fish.
Can ocelots eat or be tamed the Piranha?
Yes, ocelots can still digest the Piranha safely.
I hope this idea checks out fine with you guys. Considering the amount of mobs they've been adding, I thought this would be a refreshing take for Mojang on the dangers of the water.
I like this idea of 'danger in fishing' that youve got. Just two thoughts of mine. Pirahnas are a small fish that swim in school and devour large carcasses in a flurry, last I checked they dont poison people. Instead of pirahnas, maybe it could be some sort of poisonous fish, such as a Lionfish or a Pufferfish. My second thought is; Do people really fish all that often? I dont know if its just me, but I keep cows in pens and breed them then kill one of the parents for meat. I also have wheat growing on the side, apples (golden) stowed away in chests, and in case of emergency, I eat rotten flesh. Fishing is neither a quick way to get food, nor a free one (as you mentioned) seeing as how you need a fishing pole to fish, and therefore, atleast two string and three sticks. Good Idea, just not sure if it would affect my gameplay. The only time I fish is when I want a pet cat.
Pirahnas have razor sharp teeth. Collecting them is a really terrible idea and not easily done either. More realistically, they'd probably chew your line off. Maybe give a chance for the rod to break instead?
Also, how exactly would this be a danger of the water? Two hearts is nothing, especially if you've eaten enough to regenerate. Seems like it wouldn't add anything to "survival", really.
dont like it and really makes no sense... they are really only dangerous when hungry and they are in water and well ya..fish outa water is a fish outa water..i nerver really had a fish chase me on land...and they are small fish at that... also..no poison...

I think they should add mob fish.
That would be sweet.

One chants out between two worlds: "Fire - Walk with me."
Piranha time. Ho yeah.
Well, considering you give it a convenient string and pole to climb on....
