If you want a long ramp up, just build a 1x2 staircase out of rail tracks.
a.) That would require a block to be destroyed
b.) That means that if I build a track one block away from a block, intending to then destroy the block and then place another track, I will instead convert the track I lay to a diagonal track, and convert the block into another diagonal track.
And where does the second track come from? Your inventory? You just automatically place two tracks?
Of if that's too messy, there could be just a single half/slant block that you stack up like the current half block. The blocks can orient themselves and connect like the chests currently do.
And now you need twice as many blocks... Why not keep it simple and use a one block slant? Stuff like this is completely pointless. It's functionally identical to having a 1 block slant, but much more difficult to implement, and much more awkward and annoying.
I know my textures look bad, but this is my first time actually doing a low poly with a pixely texture (minecraft style in other words)
I like the model, except that I think the model of the cart should be more... square, and less long and rectangular. Right now it looks like it takes up two blocks.
Oh, oh, how about the ability to link them together, similar to a 2 block chest?
Also, when you put stuff in it, the model should change so that it looks like it has stuff in it.
I like the "sqauare", but the rectangle is better IMO. Maybe for 1-2 block long carts, respectively?

I like the design of the rectangular one, (how it slants upwards and stuff) I just think that the actual body of the minecart should be shortened lengthways so that it is as wide as it is long. Do you see what I'm saying?
Very nice diagrams. I think you outlined a pretty simple and efficient method at handling turns and intersections. Defaultsound made an awesome model (though lacking a front and back), and 8bit gave a good method at handling slant pieces. Now all we need is for Notch to take advantage of these ideas.

It still has the swastika though.
Anyway I like these ideas and the way I see the slants is going through 1 blocks at a 45 degree angle, and whe there is like a gap between the tracks when you want to slant up you just place the piece on the block, it checks for the tracks and it automatically corrects itself. Don't worry about realism, we should of left that at the door last May!

Talent didn't go anywhere, it just gets lost in all the noise. You have to find it.
Yes. But we do need the option to place, as in build, something into the cart. That way, you could make a movable bomb with TNT. Also, straight down should be an option

Haha, that was not on purpose! :tongue.gif:

Very nice textures btw :smile.gif:
Then you detest the slant of the fire in indev.
rectangle +1, LuciferZ's --snip--
But really, --Snip-- LucZ, --snip-- to make your idea look like a --snip--.
Hmm, these scissors need a notifier.
I'm going to try a mock up a photoshop image with the mine cart in-game to get an idea.
I'm gonna look through and see what others have suggested
And I just realized I spelt square wrong :tongue.gif:
So there would be a track piece that you can place. and each one is placed on a block etc. I've tried to get what I've read here into this.
I like the design of the rectangular one, (how it slants upwards and stuff) I just think that the actual body of the minecart should be shortened lengthways so that it is as wide as it is long. Do you see what I'm saying?
Okay your wish is my command:
