Okay before I say anything, I don't know if there's a mod for this, but that is irrelevant, it's not likely the server I play on will be adding any more of them any time soon for any reason.
Now, what I'd like added to the game would be pencils, and the ability to write on paper and in books. The pencil's durability would wear down 1 use for every letter you type, and you create them with a stick on top of a flint. I'd imagine it'd have a similar durability to flint + steel, maybe a bit more.
The reason for this is while writing on signs is nice and all, you really don't have enough room to explain important things like town rules and server policies, so you end up with walls covered in signs, and signs all over the place which can make things look a bit messy. Signs are generally meant for short important messages, you can't really go into detail without needing a dozen of them or more.
When writing on paper, after you're finished, you can post it to a sign, and if someone wants to read it, they can right-click the sign. There should be something like a 500 character limit on a piece of paper.
For books, I think we could use an update on them in general. First, when making a book, you should be allowed to make one with more or less pages (minimum 3 pages, maximum 30 pages) and these books should be placeable, so that when right-clicked they too can be read. These would generally be for town charters, and anything else that requires lots of space for text that can't fit on a single page.
Again, signs are nice and all, for short important to-the-point messages, but we really need more space for topics that require much more attention to detail.
I like it. I could make more of a Role-play feel for me by writing a journal. Maybe, instead of let's plays (may be boring) you could just read the journal...? IDK, but I support!
