Perhaps, occasionally, there will be a basement room below a forgery that will be made of Cobble and Mossy cobble and have a half built nether portal. This way, players get a "hint" of how to build the portal without looking up the structure online.
It might be more apropos if they were found in the basements of some of the churches, as though that particular village had taken up Nether worship. And maybe a chest nearby the portal would hold a flint and steel, giving further hint to players and making the villagers seem eager to finish construction and open the portal.
(P.S. Every time I see your signature there is a split second where I believe the bug is real. :sleep.gif: )

The idea of minecraft is to figure out things by yourself. Therefore it's harder to get to those dimensions. Maybe some hints of how to get there ( like maybe a journal you find in villages talking about the eye of the ender ).
