Potions are limited. Most potions are only helpful in smp and are hard to obtain. I have ideas for more basic potions for the average player. These potions require seeds as the base ingredient and make a Simple Potion
1. Potion of Magic
length: 8:00
Ingredient: book
Increases your ability to enchant items.
For example, diamond armor has 10 enchantibilty - check the wiki if you don't know what that means. For 8:00, the enchantibilty of each item might increase by 10.
2. Potion of Training
Length: 10:00
Ingredient: iron sword
Increases amount of xp dropped by mobs
Example: creeper would drop double xp from 3 to 6. (usefull for mob traps)
3.Potion of the Chef
Length: 20:00
Ingredient: cake
Food replenishes double hunger
Self explaining.
4. Potion of the Swimmer
Length: 10:00
Ingredient: raw fish
Can move walking speed in water and can rise and descend twice as fast
Also, should there be changes to the brewing system? Maybe a basic brewer that makes 5 potions at once but can only make basic potions that are stackable.
There really isn't a need for potions on single player like posion and insta-damage. the only boss battle is the enderdragon. but those potions are really helpfull on SMP. I want potions that are more usefull for singleplayer.

Both of those potions can be made into splash and used against mobs, which just so happens to be useful.
I like the idea of more potions, and some I dont need to go to the nether for.
A "love potion" would be nice, maybe made from wheat and apples, only usable on livestock, maybe 1 wheat and one apple and one gunpowder, sets animals in range to love mode and if extended increase range and if more powerful maybe a chance for twins.
I don't really like any of your potions. Not the effects, and definitely not the ingredients, should I make a potion with shards of glass, too? I have one idea for a potion, a potion of combustion. Make it by adding a fermented spider eye to a potion of fire resistance.

Yeah, the combustion potion is pretty good, and it uses a mechanic already in the game.

But i'm not so sure about your ideas (except potion of training)
