If we're going to have bosses, we should get rewards for beating said bosses. These rewards need to be unique, not just a ton of Diamonds. So I propose unique, indestructible, items you could get for defeating one boss that has the item. The items should also have a completely unique enchantment, maybe the bow shoots lightning bolts, or the fishing pole instantly catches fish. These bosses need to have a design/environment that relates to their item. So if you want to get the invincible super pickax, you have to fight a miner in a mine shaft. Or to get the Ax, defeat a lumberjack who lives in a forest. There should only be one of each of these items/bosses in every map, so you wouldn't get a bunch of overpowered people in MP. And if Mojang wants to introduce more Role Playing elements, then they could just have the villagers send you on quests to defeat these bosses, or have you collect all of these items so you can defeat a final, ultra boss. On the off chance Mojang sees this and thinks it has potential to be a good idea: feel free to modify this idea any way you want.
I think that the Ender Dragon which is the current last boss, should drop random enchanted items like a super diamond sword, or like you said, a special bow that shots special arrows.
I think that diamond should be the endgame of endgames. Adding a tier above diamond removes the viability of diamond and causes an obvious slippery slope toward more tiers past.
I say that the game ends with diamond; expand and become stronger in different ways.

I agree with diamond remaining as the "God tier" of items. Something that may possibly work, however, is something that has the same durability as diamonds but higher enchantability. Gold's enchantability level is at 25 (armor) and 22 (tools), and diamond's is at 10 for both. This new material could have something like 16-18.
That makes it useful, but without making diamonds obsolete (as diamonds would be more common). I'd like to this material appear in rare places like only in chests or maybe even the Nether (give us more of a reason to go there).

I support the idea of bosses giving you special already-made tools. but maybe in a seperate "boss dimension", I don't want to be suddenly suprised by a boss.
I live where your not.
