I think a better solution would be that people could unbreed wolves with something. See, the fact that bred Wolves are pre-bred actually reflects real life. Once wolves were tamed by ancient humans, the children of the tamed wolves were actually even more tame than the parents. Aggressiveness is in an animal's blood, not it's personality.

Excuse me, but that was my comment you just read there, bub.
As simple as the title; Make bred wolves nuetral and not owned by anyone.
For one, this would help balance wolf breeding a bit. It owuld require bones as well as food to breed new wolves.
On top of this, it allows you to sell wolves or breed wolves for your friends instead of just for you.
Support? no support?
This could be good for cats too. But this can only be done if there is a community that has a 0% tolerance policy against greifers. As for the sale value, what will be the currency? Gold nuggets?

This has nothing to do with realism. It's for gameplay purposes.
@ royal starlord.
There would be no currency system unless the server sets it up that way. Wolves could be bought/sold the same way items or animal are; through trading.

That's exactly what I mean. The current systems ARE put there partly for realism purposes. What I'm saying is that adding an Item that Untames wolves or to Steal already-tamed Wolves would work both for gameplay AND for realism. Simple as that.

having an item to steal wolves from other people would be a horrible idea in my opinion. Wolves should stay yours after you claim it.
If wolves that you breed were unowned, however, it would allow for wolf sharing without adding in a new item or any new systems beyond making neutral wolves spawn instead of tamed ones when you breed wolves.

Well, yes, the stealing item was just an example - a horrible one at that. But I'm just saying that this would make breeding a bit pointless unless you happen to be on a Multiplayer server with your friends on it.

It wouldn't make breeding pointless at all. Where did you get that idea?
Breeding would still let you get more wolves. It would just require more bones for it.

Well, some people breed Wolves for Mercenary reserves ready for when their first Wolf dies. Wolves being Ready-Tamed at birth just saves more resources and generally makes more sense.

I kinda see where this is going. But it seems as though that using a collar on a dog or a cat would have the ability of changing the ownership of that animal. But there is also the potential of griefing, unless of course you set up two types of tame animals in a specific server with a special mod it seems. 1 type of animal would be owned by the master. 2nd type is Pet store animals.

Well, this suggestion also includes the added cost of breeding wolves by requiring bones to make them owned. It's a balancing suggestion as well.
