New Ores, Tools, and System 3 New Ores, 1 New Burn Type, Many New Tiers
Notice: This is one Suggestion per topic, it contains an Chain-Reaction system afterall. With new ores, there are new tools to make and items. So they must be completely thought-thru, do not consider this multiple ideas. This is meant for a "Possible" Big Update my Mojang to give MineCraft a whole new set of things to use and advance. This is also meant to extend gameplay hours to actually finish the game by getting to THE END and killing the ENDERDRAGON.
New Ores for MineCraft including: Bronze Ore, Silver Ore, Neth Ore New Ingots for Ores: Bronze Ingot, Silver Ingot, Neth Ingot New Burning Source for Furnace: Neth Coal (Craftable) New Craftable Item Neth Coal: 8 Soul Sand, 1 Netherrack
New Tier System/Improved to Balance Players to work their Way to Mastery.
The Ores
- Bronze Ore (Bronze Ingot)
Bronze being not so abundant as any other resource, it can be found only in the higher regions between Iron and Coal, however not as deep as where Gold begins to form. Bronze is fragile, but stronger than Stone itself. This ore can be mined with Stone Tier or Higher. It is stronger than Stone, but weaker than Silver and Iron. You can only mine Silver as the next tier level obtainable.
- Silver Ore (Silver Ingot)
Silver is as abundant as Iron, however it cannot be found lower than Gold Ores are. Only obtainable with a Bronze Pickaxe, it will drop Silver Ore allowing you to craft the next tier level to obtain even tougher ores in caves. Silver Tools allow you to now mine Iron & Gold Ores, it is fairly stronger than Bronze and has longer durability as well, but less than Iron.
- Neth Ore (Neth Ingot)
Hot as the Nether itself, and incredibly durable with amazing efficiency. This resource is tougher and stronger than Diamonds, however, can only be obtained with a Diamond Pickaxe. This is the new highest Tier set available. Neth Ore cannot be found in the Overworld, it resides in the Nether among Netherrack. It is not as abundant as Coal, Iron, or Gold Combined. It's rarity resides that of Diamonds, but can be found at any elevation level in the Nether. It is said, it likes to hide behind Soul Sand. This Ore requires a different approach to achieve its usefulness, check out Neth Ingot.
The New Coal (Possibly a Better Name? Suggestions are Welcome)
- Neth Coal (Burning Resource)
Not even Wood, Coal, or Charcoal can stand a chance against this menacing burning resource. It can burn smelt normal resources twice as fast than regular coal can, however, it has the same smelting speed for Neth Ore. Neth Ore can only me smelted with this resource, it is said it can be dangerous around Wood. Perhaps it is best to do it around Water?
Unlike Coal, or Charcoal, Neth Coal must be crafted using Netherrack and Soul Sand which creates only 1 Neth Coal using the Crafting Table. This implies that the player must travel to the Nether and obtain abundant amount of these blocks to make sufficient Neth Coal. Neth Coal can be considered the Second Tier of burning sources in MineCraft, but this effect only works for normal resources, using Neth Coal to smelt Neth Ore results in the same speed and production of Ingots as normal coal would to create iron ingots in retrospect.
New Ingots for Tools
- Bronze Ingot
Smelted from Bronze Ore with any burning resource. This will create Tier 3 Tools.
- Silver Ingot
Smelted from Silver Ore with any burning resource. This will create Tier 4 Tools.
- Neth Ingot
Smelted from Neth Ore with Neth Coal. This will create Tier 7 Tools.
The Tier Adjustments for This System
Since (Assuming) this new ore, coal, and resource idea is implemented to MineCraft, the tier system will be out of wack due to the massive gap from Iron to Diamond having a huge boost in Durability (Uses). A much better system of Durabilty, Efficiency, and Tier Level is needed to compensate the usage of tools properly.
The Original Durability of Today:
Wood - 60 uses
Stone - 132 uses
Iron - 251 uses
Gold - 33 uses
Diamond - 1562 uses
As you can see, in Tier form, Gold has even lower uses than Wood, but is efficient. With the downside that it cannot mine certain blocks. The below reform tier is just a suggestion which needs to be included upon the above stated additions properly to give the game a good feel for balance (There is also the suggestion that Gold should be come the next tier after silver (This might copy Terraria in a sense I believe, or other games). Be advised, it shouldn't be considered copying other games, as ALL games (mostly MMOs) have the Bronze, Silver, Gold Tier system of Tools and Weapons. However, we can discuss the name change of Bronze, Silver, and Neth to give them a completely new name but keep their tier active.
Thus we have the new Tiers, Uses, Efficiency, and Limits: Wood - Tier 1 - 60 Uses - Level 0 Efficiency (20% Faster than Fists) * Stone - Tier 2 - 132 Uses - Level 1 Efficiency (20% Faster than Wood) * Bronze - Tier 3 - 158 Uses (20%) - Level 2 Efficiency (25% Faster than Stone) * Silver - Tier 4 - 198 Uses (25%) - Level 3 Efficiency (10% Faster than Bronze) * Iron - Tier 5 - 251 Uses - Level 4 Efficiency (25% Faster than Silver) * Gold - Tier X - 33 Uses - Level 6 Efficiency (Pre-Defined In-Game) * Diamond - Tier 6 - 439 Uses (75%) - Level 5 Efficiency (35% Faster than Iron) * Neth - Tier 7 - 768 Uses (75%) - Level 6 Efficiency (20% Faster Than Diamond) *
The above is all just on-top-of-my-head idea to work with Tier/Efficiency/Uses System. Mojang can do as they please to adjust the game properly, if this idea even makes it in (Doubt it). Another system to watch out is, what blocks/ores can be mined with what tool tier:
Wood - Can now obtain/mine Stone Blocks. Stone - Can now obtain/mine Bronze Ore. Bronze - Can now obtain/mine Silver Ore. Silver - Can now obtain/mine Iron Ore. Iron - Can now obtain/mine Redstone, Diamond Ore. Gold - As It Is Now? Diamond - Can now obtain/mine Neth Ore. Neth - Can obtain/mine Everything Possible Future Updates? (Joke)
That is the end of it, in order to prevent long text, wall of text. I'll leave the rest to discussions, changes in data, trolling, flaming, the usual enchilada stuff that goes on here. It is meant for serious consideration, but I prepare for worst outcomes. I personally believe, this idea should be added, due to the fact that Iron to Diamond is the stage where it becomes useless. The gap of Usage and how long it lasts is incredibly long. Literally meaning, once you have Diamond Set, you are a winner in the game, assuming you do not die and lose it.
Discuss...God I hope this topic doesn't come out badly when I hit "Post".
- Neth Ore (Neth Ingot)
Hot has the Nether itself, and incredibly durable with amazing efficiency. This resource is tougher and stronger than Diamonds, however, cannot be obtained with a Diamond Pickaxe. This is the new highest Tier set available. Neth Ore cannot be found in the Overworld, it resides in the Nether among Netherrack. It is not as abundant as Coal, Iron, or Gold Combined. Relatively good idea I guess (Honestly thought this was a mod idea at first), but then I re-read it, though you might want to fix the part bolded what I quoted, considering I was a little confused as to how to acquire it until I read farther into the post.

Fixed, thank you for that Grammer Check. Yes, it was meant to be with a diamond pickaxe, kinda obvious too because you need diamond to get Obsidian, thus to create a Portal to Nether. Haha, my bad.
True, it should be that neth ore swords would set mobs on fire naturally, just a suggestion though.
Neth (Im starting to hate the name now lol) tools should have a chance of making mobs on fire, by chance I mean a PRESET chance of 25% or so, so we don't turn Fire Aspect Enchantment into a useless enchantment but rather a Higher chance of setting mobs on fire.
Very good idea, I thought of copper and silver as well. I think bronze should be able to mine iron. And I assume there would be unique items to make with bronze, silver, and neth.
The nether ore and nether coal seems really overpowered.
How so? It would only be 20% Faster than Diamond, and this would also fix the major gap that Iron and Diamond have between uses. If anything is overpowered, Neth tools are 20% faster at doing their job than diamond.
Another bad idea, with bad ores with no uses and boring better than diamond crap. Also, bronze isn't an ore, IT'S AN ALLOY. Minecraft's system is fine as is, it just needs a little less caves, and a little less iron. If you want a new ore that has no purpose, forget it. Come back later when you give it a major use or two.

Obviously for this to work they would have to increase the rarity of finding higher ores. Which would balance out the usage issue you present. Also, just because bronze is an alloy, does not mean it cant be craftable via copper and tin.
As you need to mine obsidian with diamond to get to the nether it should place obsidian at a tier between diamond and neth. As in your need an obsidian pick axe to mine neth ore.
You should have to melt an obsidian ore some how.
That's as far as I got. Maybe with redstone or something?

How about in order to melt obsidian ore, you can't use coal, you can only use lava buckets.

Your post just ruins the fun for everyone, thanks man. And it has more than 4 uses. With new material, means new: armor, blocks, weapons, tools, etc.
I agree. Rather then them focusing on creating new mobs, or biomes, they need to focus more on the fundamentals of the game. Mining and Crafting!

It needs more crafting and mining, after all the game is called MineCraft. lol Sad face for the guy above you and me.
How about in order to melt obsidian ore, you can't use coal, you can only use lava buckets.
Might be a good idea, there was a mod that used Obsidian to make new tools, not sure if they guy made it between iron and diamond or if Obsidian was stronger than than diamond or something. Probably was.

Every ore you make needs at least 3 uses that iron doesn't have. You don't seem to get it, tools, armor and blocks don't count, all teirs have those.
Unless you give me at least 10 reasons to ever use any of these after getting a higher tier, forget it.
We make stone tools, but we still use wood after we get stone.
We make iron tools, but we still use stone after getting iron.
We make diamond tools, but we still use iron for tons of things.
Bronze would need even more uses than iron, to cover for the fact that it's a combination of two ores. Copper would need uses that fit into minecraft's midevel setting, and so would tin. UNIQUE uses.
The biggest problem here is one of the laws of minecraft: nothing is or will EVER be better than diamond. You think making diamond weaker helps? No. It make you look stupid.
I'm being completely honest when I say lapis lazuli is much more useful than all of your ores combined.

Copper wires, silver mirror, plates, shields maybe, arrows, jewelry, coins, batteries. Just some ideas.

How are we supposed to mine Bronze, if all Bronze is is Tin colored golden by melting it together with Copper?
or -1 me with your mind. One of them is less frustrating.
How so? It would only be 20% Faster than Diamond, and this would also fix the major gap that Iron and Diamond have between uses. If anything is overpowered, Neth tools are 20% faster at doing their job than diamond.
Well we don't have to go realistic life style, Terraria has Bronze, Silver, Gold in that order of Tiers.
