My apologies to anyone that saw my unfinished post. I hit the enter button to start a new line and it posted my half finished suggestion :dry.gif: Anywho...
Redstone. We're all aware of common problems we have with the base game redstone.
Such as
-not being able to have two lines run side by side without communicating with one another.
-not being able o make a redstone circuit run vertically in a one block space.
I searched for this and the only thing i found was sticky redstone and colored redstone which this is not.
My idea would easily solve both of those issues.
I think being able to put redstone into a crafting table in certain shapes, such as a cross, T-junction, straight line, etc and surrounding it by whatever block type you want would add great functionality.
Let me explain visually
Ill start with a T junction surrounded by cobblestone in our standard 3x3 crafting grid.
(ill be using the red flower for redstone because im either blind or it's not an option. sorry first post :biggrin.gif: )
Now by using this block it would allow the circuit to communicate in a straight line as well as respond to any input from the left side. any blocks touching the right side would be unaffected.
Cross
this block ould simply allow for communication in all four directions with the exception of the top and bottom of the block.
Turn
This block would only communicate at the bottom and left hand side of the block.
Horizontal/vertical
this block would only allow for communication on the left and right side of the block. Could be crafted in the same fashion except vertically.
In order to craft a block that would communicate in all four directions you could put the cross junction back into the crafting table and place redstone dust on top of and below it.
Same could be done with a T-Junction allowing for only 5 sides of the block to communicate with another block.
This could be done with any non functional block (wool, stone brick, etc)
I realize tihs would become expensive quickly and would be an awful idea to fully replace the current redstone system so i would like to join the two. Have the current redstone system feed into an open end of one of the new redstone blocks in order to get them to respond to one another.
Obviously the functionallity of this would be quite helpful.
It would allow for us to overcome the two problems i described in the begining of the post.
-two different circuits to run side by side without linking to each other.
-also we could now have the ability to run 1x1 virticle block that could completly hide all redstone circuitry.
We'll that's all i have hope you enjoyed and support it! :smile.gif:
Questions and comments are much appreciated
Redstone is fine. If you want to have signals directly next to each other, alternate using repeaters. If you're too cheap for that just space them a block apart. Redstone has it's obstacles to get around, and taking them away [being able to put wires next to each other without mixing signals] will make it less fun.
that seems to take up a little to many materials but you can do other things like repeaters and just space them apart plus there is a way to verticaly wire things as shown [rose for redstone torch]
Redsand
I wouldn't necessarily say less fun. I'm aware it has its obstacles, trust me i know, however why not make a tool that allows for greater functionality such as a verticle wire that is completely hidden within what appears to me a normaly cobblestone block? or an entire circuit that you can be sure isn't accidently communicating with another circit you have runing. I feel this would simplify things a great deal and make wiring much easier and infact more fun :smile.gif:
Jango
Im aware of that option however that requires at least a 3x3 area of blocks to fully hide. Also with the upcoming redstone controlled lights it would allow for lamp posts that can hang off a single block post. I realize it would be expensive too but thats why i would like to add it in addition to the current system we have instead of fully replace it. It would actually be no less expensive then creating multiple repeaters.
I think part of the fun is making sure it is hidden and that your signals do not cross. And redstone should not be easy unless it is something very simple. I enjoy having to think a little about how I go about wiring something.
