The hanging wire is a simple concept, and just adds one more data values for redstone wire. Basically, on the bottom of a block or the bottom of a hanging wire block, you can place hanging wire, which is a vertical piece of wire. This will help to send power to the tops of tall structures created in the 1.2 map height, instead of wasting time and blocks on a staircase.
If we can get upside down stairs and slabs, why not give us the ability to hang redstone wire upside down and allow it to scale walls. Alternately, if the torches could allow flow in both ways, that would be good. That's something I thought should be added to, even if I seldom even use redstone, because it's too time consuming and confusing for me.

"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.

He's got a point, vertical redstone isn't all that hard. We can already do it with redstone torches.
problem is that doesn't go down just up, so one that went down vertically would be nice
The Sun rises in the North! Now these points of data make a beautiful line...
Yes, thanks, that's what I meant, I don't think I specified though.
