With the addition of NPC and Pirate Speak in the language selection I thought it would be a good idea for mine craft to have pirates.
The pirates could be rare encounters and always be found in caves along beaches.
In the caves you would be able to go through their chests that would sometimes be filled with gold and maybe even diamonds.
The pirates themselves should be equipped with iron and wooden swords but the captain should have a gold sword.
In the caves would also be a ship tilt out of wooden planks and sails made out of wool.
In these ships will be everything a ship normally has including beds, or the pirates would be able to have hammocks.
The hammocks would be able to be destroyed and taken by the player but for the hammock to be set up it would have to have a structure on each of the 2 ends and would be able to be stationed above the ground in trees.
That would be great but... how can the pirate caves be generated?
Randomly like regular caves? And then there's a chance for a pirate hideout to spawn it?
Maybe, but it's probably hard to code.
Ah, this has to be but one of two ways pirates could appear in the overworld. The other is in vast ships (randomly generated structures) that appear in the sea. These structures could have some awesome loot and would give you a reason to venture out into the massive ocean biome more often. As suggested, they'd have pirates (can have iron armor, but usually not completely armored) and captains (gold or diamond swords, fully armored in iron or even diamond). You can get their weapons and armor, but of course they'll be damaged. Captains would be in their wheelhouse or quarters, in the boats.
As suggested in another thread, shipwrecks can also sometimes appear in the overworld, at the bottom of ocean biomes and even along the beach. (and very rarely in deserts adjacent to ocean biomes: The premise is the seas were higher there, at one point.) They'd have ghostly pirate mobs, skeletons (can't drown though), and some kind of boss.
Anyhow, yes, I support treasure/ pirate coves/ bases, as do I support shipwrecks and pirate ships in general. I also would like to see treasure maps and buried treasure implemented, but maybe that's asking too much.

"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.

I like this idea, maybe it should come with special items such as: a pirates hat, a pirates coat (with room for one sword and grants 5 extra inventory slots), or even (as suggested before) your very own ship!
