You take out your glass block you created by mixing lava and sand. You jump into a pool of water, and attack the water with the glass. BAM! The glass block is full of water and it fills a separate slot. This a.) makes glass useful and b.) sounds a hell of a lot cooler than buckets.
To empty the glass, simply place the glass, destroy it, and the block of water is left where the glass once was.
That would be awesome, and besides, glass is already awesome, you get to see through it, and those giant spiders on the opposite side of the glass won't be able to have relations with you.
The thing about moving the water is freaking awesome, just pick up some water move it to a higher spot and you can have moats in the air BUT this should never be in creative, I mean the whole world could be flooded so easily.

Talent didn't go anywhere, it just gets lost in all the noise. You have to find it.
Having more things != better. Buckets would serve the same purpose, so why have another thing to manage in the menu?

I think that if you tried to fit 1 cubic meter of water in glass and tried to transport it, it wouldn't be really efficient. Buckets sound better.
You can carry more than one glass block.
It adds a bit of complexity, really. Those with more glass blocks are more adept at carrying water, where with a bucket you just have one, static, size.
I believe Notch will go for buckets. He has already expressed that he prefers many simple elements working in concert rather than making existing elements more complex.

I meant that carrying 1 cubic meter of water in glass would require pretty thick glass for it to hold the pressure, making it pretty heavy. Buckets are stronger than glass and therefore can be lighter.

What? It doesn't have to be realistic. This is already unrealistic as the glass blocks don't have an opening to let water into.
I much prefer the idea of buckets. How would a solid glass cube hold water anyway? If there is a block that would be useful for holding water, it would surely be sponge.
What about wood 'buckets' that hold sand and gravel
Glass 'buckets' that hold sand, gravel, and water
And metal 'buckets' that hold sand, gravel, water, and magma.

At the end of the day it's the chair I trust
The cushion is comfy and the works don't rust
With a straight line of vision to my Elvis bust
Watch the kingdom, eat the bread crust

Glass 'buckets' that hold sand, gravel, and water
And metal 'buckets' that hold sand, gravel, water, and magma.
Magma still melts metal, genius...
But that's in real life, genius...

The same applies for lava.
What do you guys think?
Glass as in cup made from glass as in see-through.

It just would, and it would look cool.
It's not real life, it doesn't have to be possible to do in real life to implement it in game. You can't punch through iron in real life either.
