i have always wanted to have more ways to make tools, and more resources to gather, hence my ideas for more ore.
-one Copper
copper would be used to make tools at the same efficincy as stone but last as long as iron, copper would however, be able to mine gold, dimond ect. the most interesting use for copper would be in Redstone circuits, when fed Redstone energy a copper block (made like an iron block but with copper) would generate energy as well, but instead of sending the energy 16 blocks it would instead send the energy 64 blocks. This would allow the automated defense of large castles, or allow Morse code sort of messages to be sent to the bottom of a mine and back.
-two Nethersteel
My idea for nethersteel was to give the nether a bigger range of resources. This way, instead of running around looking for potion ingredients, you could instead find a useful ore as well. Nethersteel would be used to make armor, the armor would be more protective than diamond and last longer, I don’t think that nethersteel could be used to make tools. When nethersteel is made into a block you get a block as strong as endstone. lastly nethersteel could be used to make a shield and would be the only all protection ore in the game.
I’m not Shure what else copper or nethersteel could be used for, but hey, that’s what forums are for. if any thing comes to me i will post it.
Unlike the previous poster, I do. The reason? Unlike the End, The Nether is more of a secondary place to live than just a boss dimension. Even with the addition of two new mobs and Nether Ruins, it still feels quite empty. Blazes can only be found in Nether Ruins, so that just leaves one new mob that spawns anywhere, right? The Nether needs a few more mobs and especially an ore or two, maybe three.
The easier to find ore(s) don't have to be better than diamond, but there should be at least one ore that eclipses diamond. After all, if you're playing tru vanilla or at least didn't abuse the Mo Creature Ogre's drop to build a Nether portal, it should of took diamonds to get to the Nether. Why not add something better than diamond in the Nether? It would be just as rare as diamond is in the overworld, maybe rarer and spawn real close to the bottom of the Nether. (Maybe, you'd have to dig to that point, risking random pools and underground lava lakes, to get to it.) Either way, it'd be a fairly risky item to get and thus would make up for it's power.
Also, I think Netherrack needs a new purpose. By smelting it in the furnace, you could burn off impurities, leaving purified netherrack chunks, which could in turn be combined with other pieces (4-9), then smelted one more time to create Netherfire. Netherfire would last twice as long as coal (only 4 is needed to smelt a stack) and smelt four times as fast. Finally, Netherchunks (a better name?) would smelt twice as fast, but only last as long as wood.
Oh, and I love the idea for copper. If Silver's ever added, it needs to be more like that. Actually, if both were to be added, Copper would be weaker than what you suggested. Silver would be closer to that idea, except maybe a little bit weaker, to prevent it from being overpowered. Unlike Redstone, both types of wire could be placed up and down walls, much like vines, except they don't grow. Actually, copper and silver blocks would boost redstone circuitry, but the wires themselves are what makes it go really far and allows the circuit to scale walls.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.

anyone else see herobine on xbox minecraft?,
I think he wants nether steel to be like leather or wood, only able to work in tools or armor, not both.
The game doesn't need armor that is stronger than diamonds. Diamond is strong enough.
