With the new map height being added in 1.2, I believe mountains should get an overhaul. This would include generation, mobs, and properties of the mountains and the biomes they are in.
Generation-
First of all, mountain biomes should spawn kind of like the way they used to; as awe-inspiring areas filled with rocks jutting out from the ground and defying physics. They should also grow to fit the new maximum height, but not so much that we see trees halfway cut off like in earlier versions.
Mobs-
At least two new mobs should be added to the mountains to bring them to their full glory. Birds would be the most fitting for mountain biomes, and there should be both passive and aggressive bird mobs. The birds provide items to be farmed and a great aesthetic features of mountain biomes.
Bluejay-
These birds are small and passive. They have 2 hearts of health. The bluejays will only spawn above y = 100 on land, and will never go below y = 90. They will create nest blocks in order to reproduce. They create the nest blocks only on leave blocks, and only if there are no other nests within 50 blocks of a chosen place. The bluejays behavior will have them spend about half of their time flying around in the air, and the other half walking on leaf blocks near their nest. Every 15 minutes or so, and only if their are less than 10 bluejays within 30 blocks, they will go near the nest block and lay an egg inside it. After a few minutes, the egg will hatch and create a new bluejay. When killed, they drop 0-2 feathers and 0-1 raw bird meat (raw bird meat is the same as chicken, and chicken could be changed to this as well), and rarely a blue egg. The nest blocks can also be harvested with silk-touch in order to create bluejay farms.
Hawk-
Hawks are much larger mobs, as well as much more dangerous. They have 5 hearts of health. They will eat bluejays that they see while flying, restoring their health and giving them a temporary 5 hearts of bonus health. Hawks do not create nest blocks, but they continually spawn on their own as long as their spawning conditions (the same as bluejays) are met, and their are less than 4 hawks within 150 blocks. The hawks drop 1-4 feathers, 1-2 raw bird meat, and rarely a red egg which can be put in a nest like a blue one to create farms as well, but it will be slightly less efficient, since it doesn't happen on it's own.
More coming soon.

My other suggestion- http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1042203-more-foods/
Excessive food sources don't. We have enough food.
Thanks :biggrin.gif:
It wouldn't really be adding more food, just a new way to get an existing one.
